Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a Sphynx cat for a while now. I live in San Antonio, and I finally decided to take the plunge and see what’s out there. Here’s how it went down.
First, I started with a simple online search, nothing fancy. I just typed in “hairless cats for sale san antonio” to see what would pop up. I figured that would be the easiest way to get a feel for breeders or any rescues in the area.

I scrolled through a bunch of results, and, honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. There were so many different websites, some looked pretty legit, others…not so much. I made a mental note to be extra careful and do my research on each one.
- I focused on finding breeders that seemed reputable. You know, websites with clear photos, info about their cats, health guarantees, that kind of thing.
- I also kept an eye out for local rescues, I checked their adoption pages.
I spent a good few hours just clicking around, taking notes on the different breeders and their cats. I wanted to get a sense of pricing, what the kittens looked like, and what kind of care they required.
Reaching Out
After I felt like I had a decent grasp of the options, I started reaching out. I sent a few emails to breeders that caught my eye.I asked about availability, pricing, health testing, and what the process of getting a kitten would be like.
Some breeders got back to me pretty quickly, others took a few days.I also made calls to local resources. It was all about gathering information, really.
Next Steps
Now, I’m in the waiting phase. I’m waiting to hear back from a couple more breeders. I am reading testimonials of some * that, I’m planning to visit a few in person. I want to meet the kittens, see their environment, and talk to the breeders face-to-face. It’s a big decision, so I’m definitely not rushing into anything!
I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes! Finding the right breeder, and the right kitten, is a process, but I’m excited about the possibility of adding a hairless friend to my family.
