I’ve always been a cat person, and I’ve always wanted to have a Siamese cat. They’re just so elegant, you know? So a few months back, I finally decided to take the plunge and got myself a Chocolate Point Siamese. This whole journey has been quite a ride, and I figured I’d share some of the stuff I learned along the way.

Getting Ready for My New Furry Friend

Before I even started looking, I did a bunch of reading up on Siamese cats. I wanted to make sure I could give one a good home. I found out they’re super social and need lots of attention, which wasn’t a problem for me since I work from home. I also learned that they can be a bit vocal, which I found out the hard way later.

Next, I started looking at a bunch of pictures of different Siamese cats, and I found out about these Chocolate Point ones. I have always liked cats with those kind of white fur, they look so pretty, so I just started searching for the Chocolate Point Siamese cats.

I’ve been dreaming of getting a cat for a while. I mean, I’ve wanted one ever since I was a kid. So I finally decided, “Okay, I’m doing this.” I started checking out local shelters and breeders. I wanted to make sure I was getting my cat from a place that was treating their animals right, you know? It took a couple of weeks, but I finally found a breeder that seemed legit.

Bringing My Little Guy Home

The day I went to pick him up, I was so excited I could barely sit still. The breeder gave me all his paperwork and some food to start with, and I was good to go. I remember putting his carrier in the car and thinking, “This is it. I’m a cat owner now.” The ride home was pretty uneventful. He was surprisingly quiet, just looking around from inside the carrier. He is pretty cute.

Settling In and Getting to Know Each Other

Once we got home, I let him out of the carrier in my living room, which I had already cat-proofed. I took out all the breakables and made sure there were no dangling cords he could get tangled in. He was a bit shy at first, sniffing around and exploring his new digs. I just sat on the floor, talking to him softly and letting him come to me when he was ready.

  • First Meal: I gave him a little bit of the food the breeder had given me. He ate it right up, which I took as a good sign.
  • Playtime: I tried playing with him using a feather wand toy I had bought. He seemed interested but was still a bit cautious.
  • Bedtime: I set up a cozy little bed for him in my bedroom. He ended up sleeping on my bed instead, right next to my head. I guess he claimed his spot early on.

The First Few Weeks

Those first few weeks were all about getting him used to his new environment and routine. I made sure to spend lots of time with him, playing and just hanging out. Siamese cats are known for being super attached to their owners, and mine was no exception. He followed me everywhere, meowing for attention whenever I was doing something. I swear, this cat has more energy than a bunch of kids.

I had a few hiccups along the way. Like the time he decided to climb my curtains and almost brought the whole thing down. Or the time he got into my houseplants and made a huge mess. But hey, that’s all part of having a kitten, right?

Training and Vet Visits

Training was pretty straightforward. I got him a litter box, showed him where it was, and he took to it right away. No accidents, thankfully. I also started teaching him some basic commands like “come” and “stay.” He’s pretty smart, so he picked those up quickly. Taking him to the vet was a whole other story. He hated the carrier, and the whole car ride there was filled with his howls. But the vet said he was healthy, which was a relief.

Life with a Chocolate Point Siamese Now

It’s been a few months now, and I can honestly say that getting a Chocolate Point Siamese was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. He’s grown into such a character. He’s got his quirks, like his obsession with chasing laser pointers or his habit of sleeping in the most awkward positions. But he’s also incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle up next to me while I’m watching TV or working on my laptop. I really love him.

I’ve learned so much from having him around. Patience, mostly. And the importance of having a good vacuum cleaner, haha. But seriously, he’s brought so much joy into my life. If you’re thinking about getting a Chocolate Point Siamese, I say go for it. Just be prepared for a lot of love, a lot of energy, and a lot of unforgettable moments.
