Alright, alright, let’s talk about these… pet… carrier… toys, right? Them things you put your little critters in when you go somewhere. I seen a whole bunch of ‘em, let me tell ya. Some good, some bad, and some just plain ugly.

Now, first things first, you gotta make sure it’s strong, ya know? Don’t want your little fella fallin’ out and breakin’ a leg. I heard tell of some fancy ones, they call ‘em “airline approved”. Says they’re tough and good quality. Sounds fancy, but all I care about is if it holds up. My neighbor’s dog, Buster, he’s a chunky fella. Needs a strong carrier, that’s for sure. He’s a wiggle worm, that one, always trying to bust out, so that carrier better be strong or he will ruin it.

Durability is real important, see? If it falls apart after a couple trips, it ain’t worth a lick. You want somethin’ that’ll last. Like that old cast iron skillet my grandma had. That thing’s been through wars, I tell ya. You want your pet carrier to be like that skillet, tough as nails. I once saw a carrier at a store looked real pretty, but when I touched it, man oh man, it felt flimsy, that kind ain’t worth a dime. If you’re gonna spend your hard-earned money, make it count on a durable pet carrier.

And speaking of money, some of these things cost an arm and a leg! Crazy, I tell ya. You don’t need to spend a fortune. Just get somethin’ that works. A good latch, so your critter don’t escape. Enough room for ‘em to turn around and lie down. That’s about it. Some of them got all sorts of bells and whistles, pockets and straps and whatnot. I don’t need all that fancy stuff. Just a good, plain carrier is good enough for me and my cat.

  • Strong and sturdy
  • Safe latches
  • Enough space

Then there’s the size. You gotta get the right size for your animal, right? Can’t be crammin’ a big ol’ dog into a tiny little box. That ain’t right. He needs to be comfortable. And them little bitty cats, they don’t need somethin’ too big, or they’ll be slidin’ around in there. It’s like buying shoes, you gotta try it on, make sure it fits. Or if you can’t try it on, at least measure your critter. And when it comes to pet carrier size, bigger isn’t always better. If the carrier is too big, the pet could get tossed around too much on trips. And that ain’t good for no one. So, get the size right, folks.

Now, I seen some carriers with wheels. Like a little suitcase for your pet. Seems kinda silly to me, but I guess some folks like ‘em. Especially if you got a heavy animal. Or if you’re old and your back ain’t what it used to be. I ain’t that old yet, thank the Lord, but I can see the appeal. If you got a bunch of these critters, a pet carrier with wheels might be your friend cause you won’t be able to carry all that at once, no sir.

And then you got your soft-sided carriers and your hard-sided carriers. The soft ones are nice, light and easy to carry. But if your animal’s a chewer, they might not last long. The hard ones are tougher, but they can be heavier. It’s all a matter of preference, I guess. Me? I like the hard ones. More protection, ya know? But like I said it depends, some of them hard carriers got bad ventilation, and you don’t wanna cook your pet, right? So make sure there’s air holes or mesh windows or something, so they can breathe. Ventilation is especially important in hot weather, if it’s hot out for you, it’s hot out for your critter.

Some folks like to take their pets on airplanes. I never done that myself. Too much fuss, if you ask me. But if you’re gonna fly with your pet, you need a carrier that’s approved by the airline. They got rules about that kind of stuff. And you gotta make sure your pet’s comfortable, ‘cause it’s a long trip. A little blanket or toy might help. And don’t forget the water. Airline approved pet carriers are usually a bit more expensive, but they’re worth it if you want to take your pet on a plane. And remember, the pet’s comfort is your business, the airline sure as heck won’t care too much beyond what’s required, so you gotta care.

Anyways, that’s about all I know about these pet carrier toys. Just remember to get somethin’ strong, the right size, and comfortable for your critter. And don’t break the bank doin’ it. There’s plenty of good carriers out there, you just gotta find the right one. And when you find the right pet travel carrier be sure to keep it clean, no one wants a stinky carrier. Now go on, take care of them critters. They depend on you after all.
