Well now, let me tell ya, dogs are great and all, but them accidents on the carpet? Not so great. Pee stains and that stink? Lord have mercy! But store-bought cleaners, they cost a pretty penny, don’t they? And sometimes, they just don’t work so good. So, I figured, why not make my own homemade dog urine carpet cleaner? It ain’t rocket science, ya know.

First thing’s first, ya gotta soak that mess up. Quick as ya can, get some paper towels or an old rag and sop up as much of that pee as possible. Don’t go rubbin’ it in, just press down good and hard. Get all that extra wetness outta there.

Now, for the cleaner itself, I got a few recipes. My favorite one, it’s real simple. You just take a cup of water, see? Just plain ol’ water from the tap. Then ya dump in a cup of that white vinegar. The kind ya use for picklin’, that’s the one. And then, two teaspoons of bakin’ soda. That’s it! Mix it all up, and you got yourself a cleaner.

  • Water – one cup
  • White Vinegar – one cup
  • Baking Soda – two teaspoons

Pour that cleaner right on the stain. Let it sit there for a good five minutes, maybe a little longer if it’s a real bad one. Then, ya get another rag or some paper towels and blot it up. Don’t scrub, just blot, ya hear? You don’t wanna mess up your carpet.

Now, that vinegar smell might be a bit strong at first, but don’t you worry none. It goes away. And besides, dogs, they don’t like that vinegar smell one bit. So, it might even help keep ’em from peein’ in the same spot again.

Another cleaner I use sometimes, it’s got a little dish soap in it. For this one, ya take two cups of warm water, a tablespoon of dish soap, and a tablespoon of that white vinegar again. Mix it all up, and you’re good to go.

  • Warm Water – two cups
  • Dish Soap – one tablespoon
  • White Vinegar – one tablespoon

Use it just like the first cleaner. Soak up the pee, pour on the cleaner, let it sit, then blot it up. This one works good for gettin’ out the stain too, not just the smell.

I tell ya, these homemade cleaners, they work just as good as the fancy stuff ya buy at the store, and they’re a whole lot cheaper. And ya know what else? You know exactly what’s in ‘em. No crazy chemicals or nothin’. Just good ol’ fashioned cleanin’ power. And it’s safe to use around the kids and the animals.

Why I prefer these homemade recipes? Well, it’s because it saves money and they really work. I’ve been using them for years, and my carpets, they look pretty good, if I do say so myself. And that dog pee smell? Gone! You wouldn’t even know a dog ever had an accident in here.

So, next time your dog has a little accident, don’t go runnin’ to the store. Just whip up one of these cleaners, and you’ll be all set. Your carpet and your wallet will thank ya.

And one more thing, if the stain is old and dried up, you might need to do it a few times to get it all out. Just be patient, and keep at it. It’ll come out eventually.

Now, if you’ve got hardwood floors, these cleaners work on them too, but don’t let the vinegar sit too long, it could hurt the finish. Just spray it on, wipe it up, and you’re good to go.

Alright, that’s all I got to say about that. Go on now, and get that carpet clean!

Remember, always test a small, hidden area of your carpet first to make sure the cleaner doesn’t cause any discoloration or damage.
