Well, howdy there! You’re thinkin’ about gettin’ yourself one of them grey corgis, huh? Alright, listen up, ’cause I’m gonna tell ya what’s what, no fancy talk, just the plain truth like your grandma used to give it to ya.

First off, these little fellers ain’t no quiet lap dogs. Nope, they got a bark on ’em that’ll make ya jump outta your skin sometimes. Think of it like this, they’re small dogs with big opinions, and they ain’t afraid to share ’em! So if you’re the type that likes peace and quiet, well, maybe a grey corgi ain’t for you. But if you don’t mind a bit of a yap fest now and then, then you’re good to go.

Thinking of Getting a Grey Corgi? Heres What You Need to Know

Now, about that “grey” part. See, corgis come in all sorts of colors, and that grey, or blue merle as some folks call it, it’s just one of ’em. But no matter the color, they all got that same low-rider body and those big, pointy ears. They kinda look like little foxes, don’t they? And let me tell ya, they’re just as clever. Smart as a whip, those corgis.

  • Trainin’ a corgi ain’t too hard, but ya gotta be consistent. They’re smart, like I said, but they can also be stubborn. So ya gotta show ’em who’s boss, but do it kindly, ya hear? No need to be yellin’ and screamin’ at the poor critter.
  • Another thing, these dogs, they got energy to burn. Don’t let those short legs fool ya, they can run and play all day long if ya let ’em. So if you’re lookin’ for a dog that’ll just lay around the house all day, well, keep lookin’. Corgis need exercise, plain and simple. A good walk, some playtime in the yard, that’s what they need to stay happy and healthy.

Now, I’ve heard some folks say that corgis can be, how you say, “destructive.” Well, that can be true if ya don’t give ’em somethin’ to do. They’re herding dogs, see? It’s in their blood to nip and chase. So if they ain’t got no sheep or cows to herd, they might just start herdin’ your ankles or chewin’ on your furniture. But that don’t mean they’re bad dogs. It just means ya gotta give ’em somethin’ to keep ’em busy. Toys, chews, puzzles, that sort of thing. And plenty of attention, that’s important too.

Corgis, they love their people. They’re loyal little fellers and they’ll stick by you through thick and thin. They ain’t what ya call a “one-person dog” neither. They’ll love the whole family, kids and all. But mind you, they’re still watchdogs at heart. They’ll let ya know if somethin’ ain’t right, that’s for sure. Don’t expect ’em to be guard dogs, though. They’re too friendly for that.

Let’s talk about size. A corgi, now, they ain’t big dogs. The boys, they get to be about 30 pounds, and the girls, a bit smaller, maybe 28 pounds. And they stand about 10 to 12 inches tall. So they’re kinda small, but they got big personalities, like I said before. You can carry them around if you need to, but they’d rather be running around, being busybodies.

So, you still thinkin’ about gettin’ a grey corgi? Well, they’re wonderful dogs, that’s for sure. But they ain’t for everyone. They need attention, they need exercise, and they need a firm but loving hand. If you can give ’em that, then you’ll have a friend for life. A furry, four-legged friend who’ll make ya laugh, keep ya on your toes, and maybe even herd your chickens if ya got any.

But don’t go gettin’ one just because they’re cute. Do your homework, talk to other corgi owners, and make sure you’re ready for the commitment. ‘Cause these dogs, they deserve a good home and a family that’ll love ’em forever. And remember what I told ya about the barking, they ain’t gonna shut up just cause ya ask ’em nicely. They’re gonna bark when they wanna bark, and that’s that. But that’s part of their charm, I reckon.

One last thing, these Cardigan Welsh Corgis, they live a good long while, some of them over 2 years old even! Just kidding, they live longer than that! More like 12 to 15 years, if you take good care of ‘em. So, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy their company and their silly antics.

Thinking of Getting a Grey Corgi? Heres What You Need to Know

Now go on, make up your mind, and if you decide to get a grey corgi, well, good luck to ya. And remember, a dog is for life, not just for a little while. So be prepared to love ’em and care for ’em, every single day.
