Okay, folks, let’s talk about my recent adventure with huge Rottweiler puppies!
My Rottweiler Puppy Journey
So, I’ve always been a dog person, and Rottweilers? They’ve always held a special place in my heart. Powerful, loyal, and, let’s be honest, pretty darn intimidating. But I finally decided to take the plunge and get one.

Finding the Right Breeder
First things first, I started researching breeders. I knew I didn’t want to just pick up a puppy from anywhere. I wanted a reputable breeder who cared about the health and temperament of their dogs.
- I spent hours online, reading reviews, and looking at websites.
- I made a list of potential breeders. Some were a bit of a ways from us.
- I called each one. I am a very detailed person, and asked tons of questions. About their breeding practices, the parents’ health history, everything.
Meeting the Puppies
After narrowing it down, I visited a couple of breeders. Seeing the puppies in person is a MUST, people. You gotta see how they interact with their mom and littermates.
I fell for a cute puppy, super playful, but not overly aggressive. It was a little bigger than the other puppies. And its paws…huge! I could already tell this pup was gonna be a big boy.
Bringing the Puppy Home
Bringing my little (well, not so little) guy home was exciting and a little nerve-wracking. I puppy-proofed the house like crazy. All cables were secured, making sure anything he could chew on was out of reach.
- I set up a cozy crate for him. That’s his safe space.
- I stocked up on puppy food, toys, and, of course, poop bags. Lots of poop bags.
- We also got many towels for bath time.
The Early Days
Those first few weeks were a blur of potty training, sleepless nights, and lots of playtime. This puppy had energy to burn!
I started basic obedience training right away. “Sit,” “Stay,” “Come” – the usual stuff. Rottweilers are smart, so he picked things up pretty quickly. But he’s also stubborn, so consistency is key. You just have to find the right way to keep them motivated.

We also spent a lot of time on socialization. Taking him to the park, introducing him to other dogs (carefully, of course), and making sure he met lots of different people. It’s so important for these big guys to be well-adjusted.
Watching Him Grow
It’s amazing how fast they grow! Seriously, it felt like he doubled in size every week. He’s still a puppy, but he’s already a hefty boy. Keeping up with his food needs is a full-time job in itself, I swear.
We continue working on training every day. We also enjoy playing a lot. He’s got a goofy personality, and he keeps me laughing constantly. He’s a lot of work, no doubt, but he’s also the most loyal and loving companion I could ask for. I am so happy to have such a lovely dog in my life.
It’s been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Having a huge Rottweiler puppy is definitely an experience! And it is an experience that I will continue to enjoy for years to come!
