Okay, here’s my blog post about making a “purrfect” cat toy:
So, I’ve got this cat, Mr. Whiskers, who’s basically the king of the house. And like any good king, he needs his entertainment. I’ve bought him tons of toys, but he gets bored of them so fast! It’s like, “Okay, played with that feather wand for five minutes, NEXT.”

I decided I was gonna make him something myself. Something special. Something… purrfect.
The Brainstorm
First, I had to figure out what this thing was even gonna be. I watched Mr. Whiskers play for a bit (he mostly just napped, to be honest). I noticed he really likes batting at things that dangle and make a little crinkly noise. Okay, we’re getting somewhere!
Gathering Supplies
I raided my craft supplies (aka, the junk drawer). Here’s what I scrounged up:
- An old, clean sock (singular, because where do those other socks even GO?)
- Some crinkly plastic (from a cereal bag, washed out, of course)
- A bit of yarn
- A chopstick.(I am a big fan of Chinese food,哈哈)
- Catnip (the good stuff)
Putting It All Together
First,I stuffed some crinkly plastic into the sock. Just enough to give it some shape and that satisfying crinkle sound.
Then, I sprinkled in a pinch of catnip. Don’t want to go overboard, or Mr. Whiskers would be bouncing off the walls all day. I can not bear it!
I tied off the open end of the sock with the yarn. Made sure it was super secure, because this cat can be a destroyer of toys.
Finally,I tied the yarn to the chopstick that I found it, that can wave it around, and Mr. Whiskers can swat at it.

The Verdict
I presented my creation to His Majesty, Mr. Whiskers. He sniffed it… he batted at it… he went absolutely BONKERS for it! Success! He played with it for a good hour before finally conking out for a nap. Best. Toy. Ever. (At least for today.)
It wasn’t the prettiest thing, but hey, it worked! And it cost me basically nothing. Plus, I got to upcycle some stuff that would’ve just ended up in the trash. Win-win-win!
