Alright, let’s talk about these Siberian Husky and Malamute mixes, or whatever them fancy folks call ’em, Alusky, yeah? Sounds like a made-up name to me, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman.

Now, these dogs, they’re somethin’ else. Big, fluffy things, like a giant snowball with legs. My neighbor, bless her heart, she got one. Said it was a Husky somethin’-or-other. Always jumpin’ around, full of beans, that one. Can’t sit still for a minute.
- They say these mixes are real smart. Well, smart enough to get into trouble, that’s for sure. Like that time my neighbor’s dog dug up her whole flower garden. Said he was lookin’ for buried treasure, the little rascal.
- And energy? Don’t even get me started. They got more energy than a squirrel on a sugar rush. Need to run around all day long, or they’ll tear your house apart. My neighbor, she walks hers for miles every day, and still, it comes home and runs circles around the yard.
- Friendly, though. That’s for sure. Always lickin’ and wiggling, happy to see ya. Even when they’re covered in mud from head to toe. Kids love ’em, too. Just gotta watch ’em, though, ’cause these dogs are big and strong, and they might accidentally knock a little one over.
But here’s the thing, these dogs ain’t for everyone. They need a lot of work, you know? Training, exercise, all that jazz. And they can be stubborn as a mule. My neighbor, she’s been tryin’ to teach hers to “stay” for months now, and it still takes off like a rocket if it sees a bird or a squirrel. Training is important, real important, or you’ll have a wild beast on your hands.
And let’s talk about size. These ain’t no teacup poodles, I tell ya. They’re big dogs, strong dogs. Need a lot of space to run around. And they eat a lot, too. My neighbor, she spends a fortune on dog food every month. Says it’s like feedin’ a small horse. And the fur! Oh, the fur! It’s everywhere. On the furniture, on the clothes, in your food. You’ll be vacuuming every day, I guarantee it. They got thick fur, gotta brush ’em all the time, or they get all matted up.
Now, some folks say you can tell if it’s more Husky or Malamute by lookin’ at ’em. Ears this way, head that way, somethin’ about the face bein’ “derpy.” Sounds like hogwash to me. If you really wanna know, you gotta get one of them fancy DNA tests, the kind they use on them crime shows. That’ll tell ya for sure.
And the price? Well, I heard they ain’t cheap. My neighbor, she paid a pretty penny for hers. But then again, she spoils that dog rotten. Buys it all sorts of fancy toys and treats. Me? I’d stick with a good old mutt from the shelter. Just as loving, and a whole lot cheaper.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these Siberian Husky and Malamute mixes, make sure you know what you’re gettin’ yourself into. They’re beautiful dogs, no doubt about it, but they’re a lot of work. And if you ain’t got the time or the energy, well, you might be better off with a goldfish. Just sayin’.

They’re a mix you know, a crossbreed, like a Heinz 57 of dogs, but bigger and fluffier. Some folks say they’re the best of both worlds, the smarts of the Husky and the strength of the Malamute. But like I said, they can be a handful. My neighbor’s dog, once chewed up her favorite pair of shoes. Said it was an accident, but I think the dog just didn’t like her taste in footwear. They also need a lot of space to run, like I said, so if you live in a tiny apartment, forget about it. These dogs need room to roam, like a king in his castle, or maybe a farmer in his field.
And another thing, they shed like crazy. I mean, you’ll find fur everywhere. On your clothes, on your bed, even in your food. It’s like havin’ a second pet, only this pet is made entirely of fur. My neighbor, she brushes her dog every day, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. The fur just keeps coming. It’s like a never-ending snowstorm of dog hair. So if you’re allergic to dogs, or you just don’t like cleaning, then maybe you should get a fish, or a turtle, something that doesn’t shed.
