Alright, let’s talk about these Siberian Husky mixed with Alaskan Malamute dogs, or whatever you call ’em. Folks call ’em Husky Malamute mixes, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t no fancy dog breeder or nothin’, but I seen a few of these big fellas around. They’re somethin’ else, let me tell ya. Big and fluffy, like a giant cotton ball on legs. But don’t let that fluff fool ya, they’re strong as an ox.

These dogs, they ain’t small. We’re talkin’ big dogs, ya hear? They can weigh anywhere from 60 to 100 pounds, maybe more. I seen one that looked like a small pony, I swear! And tall too, maybe 20 to 28 inches at the shoulder. That’s up to your knee, maybe higher on some folks.
- Big and Strong: Like I said, they ain’t no lap dogs. These fellas are built for work, or at least they used to be. Pullin’ sleds and such.
- Fluffy Coats: They got this fur, it’s thick and long. Keeps ’em warm in the winter, I guess. But it also means they shed like crazy. You’ll be findin’ fur everywhere, on your clothes, in your food… everywhere!
- Lots of Energy: Don’t think you can just sit on the porch with one of these dogs. They got energy to burn. They need to run, they need to play. If you don’t give ‘em somethin’ to do, they’ll find somethin’ themselves, and you might not like it. They’ll chew up your shoes, your furniture, maybe even the whole porch!
Now, how do you tell if a dog is one of these Husky Malamute mixes? Well, it ain’t always easy. Some look more like Huskies, some look more like Malamutes. Huskies, they got pointy ears, kinda close together. Malamutes, their ears are wider apart, and their heads are more blocky. But the mix? Well, it could be anything in between.
The only way to know for sure, I reckon, is to get one of them fancy DNA tests. But even then, who knows? Sometimes I think these dog folks just make stuff up anyway.
If you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these dogs, you better be ready. They ain’t for everyone. Sure, they’re loyal and smart, real smart sometimes. But they’re also a lot of work. They need trainin’, they need exercise, and they need lots of attention. If you ain’t got time for that, then you best stick to a goldfish or somethin’.
I heard tell that these dogs ain’t good for first-time dog owners. Too much dog, I guess. Too big, too strong, too much energy. You gotta know what you’re doin’, or they’ll walk all over ya.
And that fur… Lord have mercy, that fur! You gotta brush ‘em, and brush ‘em, and brush ‘em some more. And even then, you’ll still find fur everywhere. It’s like they’re growin’ new fur faster than you can brush the old stuff out.
But, if you can handle all that, then a Husky Malamute mix might be a good dog for ya. They’re good companions, they’re protective, and they’re always up for an adventure. Just make sure you got a big yard, a strong leash, and a whole lotta patience.

And one more thing, these dogs, they like to howl. Not bark, howl. Like a wolf, kinda. It can be pretty loud, specially at night. So, if you got neighbors close by, they might not be too happy. Just somethin’ to think about.
So, there you have it. That’s about all I know about these Husky Malamute dogs. They’re big, they’re fluffy, they’re energetic, and they’re a whole lotta work. But if you’re lookin’ for a loyal companion and you ain’t afraid of a little fur, then one of these fellas might just be the dog for you.
But remember, a dog is a big responsibility. It ain’t a toy you can just put on the shelf when you’re tired of it. You gotta feed ’em, train ’em, love ’em, and take care of ’em, no matter what. If you ain’t willin’ to do that, then don’t get a dog. Get a pet rock instead.
And if you do decide to get a Siberian Husky mixed with Alaskan Malamute, well, good luck to ya. You’re gonna need it!
