Alright, so I’ve always wanted a Russian Blue. Those silvery coats and green eyes? Forget about it! I live in New York, so naturally, I made it to get one of these beauties.
The Hunt Begins
First,I started hitting up the obvious places. You know, Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet. I spent, no joke, hours scrolling through listings. I saw a few that were maybe Russian Blues, but honestly, it was hard to tell from the photos.
I got many types of cats from the searching and filtering.
Shelter Search
- Contact Local Shelters. Started calling around. Most places were like, “Yeah, we get all kinds of cats, come on down!” Not exactly helpful, but I figured it was worth a shot.
- Visiting Shelters: Okay, this was a bit of a downer. Lots of sweet kitties, don’t get me wrong, but no Russian Blues. Most shelters had mostly mixed breeds, which is fine, just not what I was aiming for.
Then I tried breeders…
I had checked with some breeders and I know breeders can be a bit controversial. I spent a good chunk of time researching breeders in the New York area. I wanted to find someone reputable, you know? Not some backyard breeder situation.
- Checking Credentials: I made sure any breeder I considered was registered with, like, TICA or CFA. Looked for reviews, tried to see if anyone had complaints. It’s a whole process, let me tell you.
I found a couple of breeders that seemed legit. I got to visit one that has good comments from google maps . The cattery was clean, the cats seemed happy and well-cared for. they have a real good condition russian blue,but the price is not cheap, and i have to wait a long time for its next generations.
And I still got the target!
I found a good breeder that has a lovely russian blue that is just in my budget, and i don’t have to wait for so long , I had made my decision. I decide to get the cute cat and I took it to my home!
It’s took me a long time to get my lovely cat. And all the searching and hardwork is worth!
