Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a dog for a while now, and I’ve always loved both Rottweilers and German Shepherds. I was thinking, “Why not get the best of both worlds?” So I started looking into this mix, the Rottweiler German Shepherd mix, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey!
Diving into Research
First things first, I needed to know what I was getting myself into. I started by googling everything I could find about both breeds separately. I learned about their temperaments, their energy levels, their potential health issues – you name it, I read it.

Then, I moved on to finding information specifically about the mix. I found a few forums where people were talking about their experiences, which was super helpful. I also checked out some breeder websites, but honestly, I wasn’t super impressed with most of them.
The Hunt Begins
Once I felt like I had a decent handle on what to expect, I started looking for a puppy. This was tougher than I thought! I searched online, but I kept getting nervous about puppy mills and unreliable breeders. I wanted a healthy, well-adjusted pup, and that’s not always easy to guarantee.
I decided to check with local shelters and rescue organizations. I figured there might be a good chance of finding a Rottweiler-German Shepherd mix that needed a home. I visited a couple of shelters, and met some really sweet dogs, but none of them were quite the right fit.
A Lucky Break!
I was starting to get a little discouraged, but then I stumbled across a Facebook group for dog lovers in my area. I posted about what I was looking for, and someone actually responded! They knew a family whose Rottweiler and German Shepherd had accidentally had puppies. They were looking for good homes for them, and they weren’t charging an arm and a leg.
Meeting the Puppies
I contacted the owners, and they invited me to come meet the puppies. I was so excited! When I got there, there were five little fur balls tumbling all over each other. They were adorable! I spent a good hour playing with them, trying to get a feel for their personalities.
There was one little girl, she just stole my heart. I can describe that I picked her!
- Because she is adorable, active, and super smart.
- I do love the color of her body.
- The most important thing is the friendly vibe between the puppy and me.
I’ve had her for six weeks now, and it’s been amazing, it’s truly rewarding.I am so grateful and happy to see that I chose this mix, it is the best decision I’ve ever made, and It turns out I got a perfect puppy!
