Okay, so, I wanted to share this little project I did – making a toy for rescued pets. It was pretty fun, and I think it turned out okay!
I started by thinking about what kind of toys pets from shelters might like. You know, something comforting and fun. I figured they’ve been through a lot, so a nice, new toy might make them happy.

Then, I gathered some stuff. I used some old t-shirts because they’re soft, and I had a bunch lying around. I also grabbed some stuffing from an old pillow that I didn’t use anymore. I made sure everything was clean, of course.
Next, I cut the t-shirts into strips. This was kind of a hassle, but it was okay. I tied the strips together to make a big, fluffy ball. I made sure to tie them really tight so the dogs or cats couldn’t pull them apart easily. I don’t want them choking on anything.
- First, I tied a few strips together in the middle to make a strong base.
- Then, I kept adding more strips, tying them around the base until it looked like a ball.
- Finally, I stuffed some of the pillow stuffing in between the strips to make it even softer.
I tested it out with my own dog first, and he seemed to like it! He chased it around and chewed on it a bit, and it held up pretty well. I was happy to see him having fun.
The Result
It wasn’t perfect, but it was a decent toy, and it didn’t cost me anything to make. I ended up making a few more and took them to the local animal shelter. The staff there said the animals loved them! That made me feel good. It was a small thing, but maybe it made those pets’ day a little bit brighter. You know, making toys for them feels good, why not just give it a try!
