Alright, let’s gab about these here pet feedin’ dishes, ya know, the things them critters eat outta. I seen all sorts, let me tell ya. Some fancy, some plain as dirt.
Now, some folks say them high-up bowls, the ones that ain’t sittin’ right on the ground, them are good for the big dogs. They say it helps ’em stand up straighter and not hurt their necks. Big dogs, small dogs, all sorts I tell ya! I ain’t so sure myself. Heard some say it makes them big fellas get all bloated up in the belly, but then others swear by it. Guess it depends on the dog, just like people, some like beans, some like taters.

I seen them bowls made of all sorts of stuff too. Some shiny metal ones, they look nice and all, but they get cold in the winter, I reckon. Then there’s them plastic ones, light as a feather. And don’t forget them heavy ceramic ones, pretty, but Lord help ya if ya drop one on yer toe! I got a cat, sneaky little thing, prefers a saucer on the floor, won’t touch nothin’ fancy. Cats are picky, ya know.
Then there’s them double dish contraptions, ya know, one for food, one for water. Handy, I guess, saves ya from havin’ two separate bowls lyin’ around. Some even got little spots to keep the dry food, keeps them ants outta it, them little buggers get into everythin’. Seen some with little rubber feet, so they don’t slide around when yer dog’s eatin’ like a hog. Smart, I tell ya, real smart.
- Metal bowls: Easy to clean, but can get cold.
- Plastic bowls: Light and cheap, but might not last as long.
- Ceramic bowls: Pretty, but heavy and can break.
- Elevated bowls: Maybe good for big dogs, maybe not.
- Double bowls: Handy, keeps food and water together.
Now, about them high-up bowls again. I heard they can be good for dogs with certain problems, like if they got a bad back or somethin’ wrong with their throat. Makes it easier for ’em to swallow, I s’pose. But if yer dog’s healthy as a horse, maybe just stick to a regular bowl on the floor. That’s what I always done, and my dogs never complained, not that they could talk, mind you. They just wagged their tails and ate, happy as clams.
And don’t go spendin’ a fortune on these things, I tell ya. A bowl’s a bowl, whether it costs a dollar or twenty. Your dog don’t care if it’s got diamonds on it, long as it’s got food in it. My old Bess used to eat outta a tin can, and she lived to be a ripe old age. It ain’t about the bowl, it’s about what’s in it, ya hear?
So, when yer lookin’ for a feedin’ dish for yer critter, just use yer common sense. Think about yer dog, think about yer cat, think about what’ll be easy to clean and won’t break the bank. And don’t listen to all them fancy folks tryin’ to sell ya somethin’ ya don’t need. A simple bowl will do just fine, trust me on that. Keep it simple, that’s my motto. Just like good ol’ country cookin’, nothin’ fancy, but it fills yer belly and keeps ya goin’. Same goes for them pet dishes, ya know?
One more thing, make sure ya clean them bowls regular. Nothin’ worse than a dirty dish, full of old food and stinkin’ to high heaven. Wash ’em out good, just like ya wash yer own plates. Yer critter deserves a clean place to eat, just like ya do. That’s just common courtesy, ain’t it?
So, there ya have it, my two cents on pet feedin’ dishes. Nothin’ fancy, just plain talk from an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. Now go on and feed them critters, they’re probably starvin’!
