You know, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this here golden retriever chocolate lab mix the other day. Sounds like some fancy city dog, but I reckon it ain’t much different from the mutts we got runnin’ ’round here. Just a mix-up of two different kinds, like when you mix your best laying hen with a good rooster, hoping for strong chicks. This one, they call it a Goldador. Sounds kinda fancy, don’t it?
Well, from what I gather, this golden retriever, it’s a pretty dog, all golden and fluffy, like a good layer of hay. Chocolate lab, that’s another one, dark as the mud after a good rain. You put ’em together, and what do you get? Well, I reckon you get a dog that’s a bit of both. Maybe some golden, maybe some dark, maybe a mix-up of the two. Probably a good-sized dog, too, if them parent breeds are anything to go by.

These Goldadors, they say they’re good dogs. Friendly, like that old hound dog, Buster, we used to have. Always waggin’ his tail, happy to see ya. And smart, too, they say. You can teach ’em things. Like fetchin’ your slippers or maybe even helpin’ you out with chores, though I doubt they’d be much help with the gardenin’. Labs, them’s good dogs, too. Good companions. Make you feel safe, like a good lock on the door.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these city dogs, but I reckon a dog’s a dog. You gotta feed ’em, water ’em, give ’em a place to sleep. They like a good scratch behind the ears, just like anybody. And they need love, just like us folks. Treat ’em right, and they’ll be loyal to ya till the end. They good with kids, I hear. Like havin’ a furry friend around. Kids and dogs, they just go together, like biscuits and gravy.
Golden retriever chocolate lab mix, they call it. Seems like these Goldadors are good for folks who ain’t had dogs before. Easy to train, they say, like breakin’ in a new pair of shoes, gotta be patient, but it gets easier with time. These dogs, both the golden ones and the chocolate ones, are smart cookies. Loyal, too. Like a good friend who always got your back. They good family dogs.
If you get one, I bet you gotta brush ’em. Keep that fur from gettin’ all matted up, like when you don’t brush out your wool before spinnin’. And probably gotta give ’em baths, too. Though I imagine they ain’t too fond of that, just like my old grandpappy wasn’t fond of gettin’ in the tub.
They need exercise, too, these dogs. Gotta run ’round, stretch their legs. Like lettin’ the cows out to pasture. Can’t keep ’em cooped up all day, gotta let ’em be dogs. If you got a big yard, that’s good. If not, I reckon you gotta take ’em for walks.
- Feed ’em good food
- Give ’em plenty of water
- Let ’em run around
- Give ’em love
That’s what I reckon is important. Just like raisin’ kids, you gotta give ’em what they need. Food, water, love. A good dog will be your friend for life. This Goldador, this golden retriever chocolate lab mix, I bet it would make a good friend. A real good friend. They is good for work, too, these dogs. Like helpin’ folks who can’t see too good. Guide dogs, they call ’em. Smart dogs.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy breeds. We just had dogs. Good dogs, most of ’em. They’d chase the squirrels, keep the rabbits out of the garden, bark at strangers. They were part of the family, just like the chickens and the cows. These Goldadors, they are a mix of good dogs. Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever. Good dogs, those.

I remember one time, old Bess, our dog, she saved little Timmy from fallin’ in the well. Pulled him back by his overalls. Smart dog, she was. Loyal, too. Didn’t matter what breed she was, she was a good dog. And I bet this golden retriever chocolate lab mix, this Goldador, would be just as good, maybe even better.
So, if you’re thinkin’ ’bout gettin’ one of these Goldadors, I say go for it. Just remember what I said. Treat ’em right, and they’ll treat you right. They good companions. A dog’s a good friend to have, no matter what kind it is. Just like a good neighbor, always there when you need ’em. These ones, the Goldadors, the golden retriever chocolate lab mix, they’re good for new dog owners, too. Friendly and smart. That’s a good mix, I reckon. Just like when you mix your best flour with good yeast, you get good bread. This dog is a good bread, I think. A good companion.
