Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out a petting zoo for ages, you know, just for a chill day out, something different. I heard about this one in Newport News, and figured, why not? So, I grabbed my buddy, and we hit the road.
First off, finding the place was a bit of a mission. My GPS was being wonky, leading us down some random back roads. We probably drove in circles for a good 20 minutes, seriously. Note to self: double-check the directions before leaving the house next time.
Getting In and First Impressions
Eventually, we stumbled upon it. It wasn’t huge, which I kinda liked. Less walking, more animal time, right? Paid the entry fee – it was pretty reasonable, I think. The first thing that hit me was the smell…yeah, it definitely smelled like a farm. But hey, that’s part of the experience, I guess!
Meeting the Animals
So, the animals! They had your usual suspects: goats, sheep, chickens, some rabbits. The goats were definitely the stars of the show. Super friendly, always looking for a snack. I even bought some of those little feed pellets from a dispenser. Those goats were all over me, nudging my hands, trying to get every last crumb. It was hilarious!
- Goats: 10/10, would get mobbed by them again.
- Sheep: Pretty chill, just kinda hung out.
- Chickens: Doing their chicken thing, pecking around.
- Rabbits: Fluffy and adorable, but didn’t want much to do with us.
There also were some animals that I had never seen in a zoo, it was great, I was very excited. I have noted them on my small notebook to search for them on internet later, I think that I will do a drawning of each one to remember the experience better.
Other Stuff
They had a little picnic area, which was nice. We grabbed some sodas from a vending machine and just relaxed for a bit, watching the animals do their thing. It was surprisingly peaceful, considering all the bleating and clucking going on.
Wrapping Up
We spent maybe a couple of hours there, all in all. Honestly, it was a perfect little afternoon getaway. Nothing fancy, just a simple, fun time. If you’re looking for something low-key to do, I’d definitely recommend checking out a petting zoo. Just be prepared for the smell, and watch out for those hungry goats!
