Well, let me tell you, these rat pet toys, they ain’t just for show. My grandson, he got one of them little rat critters, and he’s always buyin’ it things. Says it keeps the little fella happy. I didn’t believe it at first, but I see it now. That rat, he’s a busy one, always playin’ with somethin’.
First off, them rats, they need a place to live, right? A cage, gotta have a cage. And make sure it’s one they can’t get out of, ’cause them little fellas are escape artists, I tell ya! They say the cage for these rat pet toys is very important. Inside, gotta have that dry stuff, what do they call it? Bedding. Yeah, dry bedding. Keeps ’em clean, I reckon. And food, gotta have food. And water, but not in a bowl, they say. Gotta be in one of them upside-down bottles with the little metal thingy. They call it a gravity bottle or somethin’. My grandson, he knows all about these things.

These rats like a little house too. My grandson gave his rat a little wooden box. He says the rat pet toys need somewhere to hide and be alone. It looks happy in there. It does look more tame, too. They are better alone, my grandson said. I don’t know, he knows more than me.
Now, about them rat pet toys. Seems like them rats need somethin’ to do, just like us. They get bored, just sittin’ around, I guess. So my grandson, he got this thing called a “Burrow Box.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? It’s just a box full of dirt, I think. But that rat, he loves it! He’s always diggin’ and playin’ in there. Keeps him busy, that’s for sure. It’s for explorin’ and playin’, just like those kids with their toys.
- Chew toys, that’s a big one.
- They got teeth, and they gotta chew.
- My grandson, he gets these little wooden things, says they gotta be safe wood, though.
- Can’t just give ’em any old stick, I guess.
And ropes! Who knew rats liked ropes? My grandson, he hangs these ropes in the cage, and that rat, he climbs all over ’em. Like a little monkey, he is. Strong, too. Them ropes, they gotta be strong, or that rat will chew right through ’em. Yeah, rat pet toys are good for these animals. I never thought I would say that.
They got these other things, too. Puzzles, they call ’em. For rats! Can you believe it? My grandson, he puts these little treats in these things, and the rat, he’s gotta figure out how to get ’em out. Smart little fellas, ain’t they? Keeps their minds workin’, I guess. My grandson said the rat pet toys need to use their brain.
So, yeah, these rat pet toys, they ain’t so silly after all. They keep them little critters happy and busy. And a happy rat, well, that’s a good thing, I suppose. Less likely to chew on things they shouldn’t, maybe. Like my shoes! I told my grandson, he better keep that rat away from my shoes!
They say you gotta give ’em different kinds of toys, too. Not just the same old thing. Keeps ’em interested, I guess. Like kids, always wantin’ somethin’ new. They say it’s good for them, these rat pet toys. It’s like school for rats.
- Rats, they like to chew, so them wood toys, they’re good.
- And them ropes, good for climbin’.
- And them puzzles, good for thinkin’.
- So, yeah, lots of toys.
It’s a lot of work, havin’ a rat. More work than you’d think. But my grandson, he loves that little fella. And he takes good care of him. Makes sure he’s got all these toys and things. I see my grandson playing with that little rat, he is so happy. I guess these rat pet toys make my grandson happy, too.

I still think it’s a bit strange, havin’ a rat for a pet. But I guess it’s not so bad. As long as they got their toys and their food and their water, they seem happy enough. And a happy rat makes a happy grandson, I reckon. These rat pet toys are really good for them. So there you have it. That’s what I know about them rat toys. More than I ever thought I’d know, that’s for sure!
