Well, let me tell you ’bout this story from the Bible, Luke chapter 24, verses 9 to 12. It’s about Peter and what happened after Jesus died. You know, Jesus, the one they nailed to the cross. Yeah, that one.

So, some women, they went to Jesus’ tomb, where they put his body, you know? And guess what? The tomb was empty! Empty, I tell ya! No Jesus there. These women, they were scared, but also kinda excited, and they ran back to tell the other fellas, the disciples, you know, Jesus’ friends.
The women, they told the disciples everything. “He ain’t there! The tomb’s empty!” they said. But them disciples, they didn’t believe it. Thought the women were just babbling, talking nonsense. Men, they never listen, do they? They probably thought, “Ah, them women, always making a fuss about nothin’.”
- They said, “The tomb, it’s empty!”
- But the men, they didn’t believe a word of it.
- They thought it was just silly women talk.
But Peter, he was different. He wasn’t so quick to dismiss the women. Maybe he felt somethin’ wasn’t right, you know? Or maybe he just wanted to see for himself. So, what does he do? He gets up and runs! Yep, runs all the way to the tomb. He was probably huffin’ and puffin’ by the time he got there. Imagine that, an old fella like him runnin’ like a young’un.
He gets to the tomb, and he bends down, looks inside. The Bible don’t say exactly what he saw, but it was enough to make him wonder. He was probably scratching his head, thinkin’, “What in tarnation is goin’ on here?” He was confused, I tell ya. Just like anyone would be. You go to see a dead body, and there ain’t no body. Makes ya think, don’t it?
You see, Peter, he had been with Jesus for a long time. He saw all the miracles, heard all the preachin’. He even said he’d follow Jesus no matter what. But then, when things got tough, when they arrested Jesus, Peter got scared. He denied even knowin’ Jesus. Three times! Can you believe that? Three times he denied his best friend! He must have felt terrible after that.
So now, with Jesus gone, Peter’s probably feelin’ all sorts of things. Sadness, guilt, confusion. He’s probably thinkin’, “Did I mess up? Could I have done somethin’ different?” And now, this empty tomb. It’s just one more thing he can’t understand.

But this empty tomb, it was the start of somethin’ new. It was the beginnin’ of believin’ that Jesus wasn’t just some regular fella. He was more than that. He was the Son of God, just like he said. And even though Peter messed up, even though he denied Jesus, Jesus still loved him. That’s the kinda love that changes a person, you know? Makes you want to be better, do better.
This whole thing, it shows us that even when we don’t understand, even when we make mistakes, there’s still hope. Just like Peter, we might doubt, we might get scared, we might even mess up real bad. But that don’t mean it’s the end. There’s always a chance for somethin’ new, somethin’ better. Just gotta keep the faith, keep on believin’. That’s what I reckon, anyway.
So, that’s the story of Peter and the empty tomb. A story ’bout doubt, and fear, and finally, believin’. It’s a story that still matters today, ’cause we all have times when we don’t understand, when we feel lost. But just remember Peter, and how he ran to that tomb. He didn’t give up. And neither should we.
It’s important to remember that Jesus’s resurrection was a big deal, a turning point, you know? It showed everyone that he was who he said he was, the Son of God. And it gave his followers, like Peter, a new sense of purpose, a reason to keep going even when things were tough. It reminds us that even death ain’t the end, and that there’s always hope, no matter what.
