Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about Siamese cats lately, and I gotta say, I’m totally on board. I mean, who doesn’t love those gorgeous blue eyes and that sleek coat? So, I decided to jump in and see what it would take to actually, you know, get one. My journey started, as all good things do, with a simple search.
First, I pounded the keyboard looking into breeders. Gotta start with a reputable source, right? I figured, might as well go big or go home. I wanted a healthy, happy kitten, not some poor little guy with a bunch of problems. So, I was looking at websites, reading reviews, the whole shebang. I spent hours staring at cute kitten photos, not gonna lie.

Finding a Reputable Source
- Digging for Breeders: I checked out a bunch of breeder websites. Some looked super professional, others…not so much. You can kinda tell from the pictures and the way they talk about their cats.
- Reading Reviews: Yep, went down the rabbit hole of online reviews. It’s amazing what people will share! Some were glowing, others were horror stories. I was taking notes!
- Contacting Breeders: I sent a few emails to breeders that seemed legit. Asked about their breeding practices, health guarantees, all that jazz. Waiting to hear back is the worst part.
Then I thought, “Hey, maybe there are Siamese rescues out there?” I’m all about giving a cat a good home, so I started searching for rescue organizations. This turned out to be a bit trickier. It seemed like there were fewer Siamese-specific rescues, but I did find some general cat rescues that occasionally had them.
The Rescue Route
- Searching for Rescues: Found a few national organizations, and a couple of local ones. It was a bit harder to tell what they had available, though.
- Application Time?: Some of the rescues had online applications. I haven’t filled one out yet, still weighing my options. It’s a lot more paperwork than I expected!
Honestly, the whole process is a bit more involved than I thought. There are waiting lists, application fees, contracts…it’s not just “walk in, pick a cat, and go.” But seeing those adorable faces makes it all seem worthwhile. I will continue to share the follow-up of buying Siamese cats with you.
Right now, I’m still in the research phase. I’m leaning towards a breeder, just because I want a kitten and I want to know its history, but I haven’t ruled out a rescue. Either way, I’m determined to bring a little bit of Siamese sass into my life!
