Okay, let me tell you about my trip to the St. Peter’s Urgent Care over at Patroon Creek the other day.
Why I Ended Up There
So, I woke up feeling pretty rough. Not like, “call an ambulance” rough, but definitely not right. Had this annoying pain that just wouldn’t quit, and honestly, trying to get a regular doctor’s appointment last minute? Good luck with that. I figured it wasn’t a big emergency room deal, more like something that needed checking out sooner rather than later. That’s what these urgent care places are for, right? For when it’s not life-or-death but you still need someone to take a look.

Getting There and Checking In
I remembered hearing about the St. Peter’s place on Patroon Creek, and it wasn’t too far, so I decided to head over. Finding it was easy enough, good signage. I pulled in, parked, and walked up to the entrance.
Went inside, and it looked clean, pretty standard waiting room setup. There were a few other people waiting, but it wasn’t packed, which was a relief. I walked up to the front desk. The person there was polite, asked me what was going on, you know, the usual stuff.
Here’s kinda how the check-in went:
- Gave my name and reason for visit.
- Handed over my insurance card and ID.
- Filled out a couple of forms on a clipboard – medical history basics, symptom checklist, that kind of thing.
- Got told to take a seat and they’d call me.
The whole check-in part was pretty smooth, didn’t take long at all.
The Wait and Seeing Someone
I settled into a chair and waited. Honestly, the wait wasn’t bad. Maybe 15-20 minutes? I’ve definitely waited longer at my regular doctor’s office sometimes. They called my name, and a nurse led me back to one of the exam rooms.
She was friendly, asked more questions about how I was feeling, took my temperature, blood pressure – the standard checks. She typed everything into a computer. Then she said the doctor or physician assistant would be in shortly.
A few minutes later, the provider came in. Introduced themselves, very calm demeanor. They listened while I explained the problem again. Asked some follow-up questions. They did a quick examination, focusing on where I said the pain was. They actually listened, which I appreciated. Didn’t feel rushed.

Getting Sorted Out
After the exam, they told me what they thought was going on. Explained it in simple terms, no confusing medical talk. Basically confirmed it wasn’t anything super serious, which was a big relief. They talked about what I should do next:
- Some advice on managing the symptoms at home.
- Mentioned what over-the-counter stuff might help.
- Told me what to watch out for, just in case things got worse.
They asked if I had any questions, and I did ask a couple just to be clear. They answered them patiently.
Wrapping Up the Visit
And that was pretty much it. The provider finished up, said hope I feel better soon. The nurse popped back in quickly to give me my discharge papers. These papers basically summarized what they found and the advice they gave me. She pointed out the key instructions.
Walked back out to the front desk. Settled up any co-pay stuff. The person at the desk was efficient again, wished me well, and I was out the door. Start to finish, maybe an hour, hour and fifteen minutes max?
Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a decent experience. Went in feeling crummy and worried, came out feeling reassured and knowing what to do. The place was clean, the staff were professional enough, and most importantly, they handled my issue pretty quick. For a situation where you need care but it’s not a 911 emergency, St. Peter’s Urgent Care at Patroon Creek did the job. Got me sorted without a huge hassle. Would definitely consider going back if I needed that kind of quick, non-emergency help again.
