Okay, so I wanted to find a new home for my hamster, Mr. Nibbles. I figured the classifieds section of the Dayton Daily News might be a good place to start. Here’s how the whole thing went down:
Finding the Classifieds Section
First, I needed to find the actual classifieds.I Grabbed my phone, and typed in “Dayton Daily News”.

I looked real hard for a “Classifieds” link. Sometimes it’s obvious, sometimes it’s buried.
Browsing and Searching
Once I got into the classifieds, I needed to narrow things down. I look for a “Pets” category. Obvious, right?
They usually have subcategories, like “Dogs,” “Cats,” “Birds,” stuff like that. I went straight for the “Other” or “Small Animals” section, figuring that’s where hamsters would be.
I didn’t see anything specific about placing an ad,I did see all sorts of pets listed.
Writing the Ad
Now for the fun part – writing the ad! I needed to make Mr. Nibbles sound irresistible. I kept it short and sweet, something like:
- “Hamster for Adoption: Friendly, adorable hamster seeks loving home. Comes with cage and accessories. Free to a good home.”
I made sure to highlight the “free to a good home” part. I really wanted him to go somewhere he’d be cared for, not just be a quick sale.
Submitting and Waiting
Finally got it placed, and the waiting game is real.

Fingers crossed someone sees Mr. Nibbles’ ad and wants to give him a fantastic new home! I’ll update this post if I hear anything back.
