Alright, let’s talk about them Lab-Brittany mix dogs, you know, the ones they call Labany or somethin’. My neighbor, bless her heart, got one. Crazy thing’s got more energy than a squirrel on a hot tin roof.

What’s a Labany Anyways?
Well, it ain’t rocket science. It’s just a mix, see? A Lab-a-dore Retreever and a Brittany Spaniel got together, and bam! You got yourself a Labany. They say they’re medium-sized, but this one down the road looks kinda big to me. Probably takes after its Lab side, I reckon.
Temperament, you say? Hmph!
- They say these dogs are playful. Playful? This one’s a tornado in fur! Always running, jumping, chewing on stuff. Good thing my neighbor’s got a big yard.
- Loyal, though. Yep, I’ll give ‘em that. Sticks to my neighbor like glue. Always wagging its tail, happy to see her. Sweet thing, in its own crazy way.
- Good with families, they say. Well, I see kids playing with it all the time, so I guess that’s true. But you gotta watch ‘em, you know? Kids and dogs, they can get into all sorts of trouble.
Energy, Energy, and More Energy!
I ain’t kiddin’ ya, this dog needs a job. It runs and runs and runs. My neighbor takes it for walks, but it ain’t enough. I swear, that dog could run a marathon and still have energy left over. If you ain’t an active person, don’t even think about gettin’ one of these. You’ll be worn out before noon, I tell ya.
Getting Along with Other Dogs

Now, my neighbor’s got another dog, a Golden Retreever, I think. They get along alright. Play together, sleep together, you know, dog stuff. I heard Labs get along with other Labs, and even Beagles and German Shepherds. Makes sense, I guess. Just gotta make sure they’re about the same size and got similar energy. You don’t want a tiny dog getting trampled by a big ol’ Labany, that’s for sure.
Size and Weight, Huh?
They told my neighbor this Labany wouldn’t get too big, but I think they were wrong. That dog’s pushing fifty pounds, easy. And strong! Pulls my neighbor around like she ain’t nothin’. They said some of them Springer Spaniel Lab mixes can get big too, so I guess it’s in their genes or somethin’.
Other Mixes, you say?
I’ve heard tell of other mixes too. Like a Brittany Spaniel and a Beagle. Now that’s a combination I can’t quite picture. Beagles are small, always sniffing around. Brittanys are, well, like I said, energy bombs. Guess it just depends on which dog takes after which parent. Dogs are like people that way, I suppose.
Taking Care of a Labany

Look, if you’re gonna get one of these Labany dogs, you gotta be prepared. Lots of exercise, like I said. And training too. You don’t want that dog running wild, do ya? Good food, regular vet visits, the whole shebang. It’s like having another kid, only furrier and with four legs.
Is a Labany Right for You?
Well, that’s somethin’ you gotta ask yourself. You got the time? You got the energy? You got a big yard? You like dogs that are always on the go? If you said yes to all that, then maybe. But if you’re lookin’ for a lap dog, somethin’ to just sit around and cuddle with, then you best look elsewhere. This ain’t no couch potato dog, that’s for sure.
And them other names they got… Some folks call ’em Brittadors too. Same dog, just a different name. Like how some folks call soda “pop” and others call it “coke.” Just depends on where you’re from, I guess.
So, there you have it. My two cents on them Labany dogs. They’re a handful, alright, but they’re good dogs. Just gotta be ready for ‘em.
