So, the other day, I got it into my head that I needed to figure out once and for all the real deal between Korat and Russian Blue cats. I mean, they both have that cool blue-grey fur and those killer green eyes, right? So I started digging.
First, I went on a picture spree, just looking at tons of photos of both breeds. What I noticed pretty quick was the eyes. The Korats, their eyes are huge! And round, like little green marbles. The Russian Blues have more almond-shaped eyes. Still pretty, but definitely different. And the ears, too. Korats have these rounded ears, while the Russian Blues’ are more pointy.

Then I started reading about their personalities. Apparently, Russian Blues can be a little shy. They love their families, sure, but they’re not always up for meeting new people. But, they are pretty chill and good for first-time cat owners. Korats, on the other hand, are social butterflies. They’re like the party animals of the cat world. And you know what else? They used to be only for Thai royalty! Can you believe that? No wonder they’re rare.
I even tried to find some videos to see them in action. It’s one thing to read about them, but another to actually see how they move and act. Watching them play, I could really see the differences in their builds. Korats are sleek and muscular, like little panthers. Russian Blues are also slim, but they seem a bit more… elegant, maybe?
What I Learned
- Eyes: Korats have big, round eyes; Russian Blues have almond-shaped eyes.
- Ears: Korats have rounded ear tips; Russian Blues have pointed ears.
- Personality: Russian Blues are reserved but loving; Korats are social and outgoing.
- Rarity: Korats are considered a rare breed.
- Build: Both are medium-sized, but Korats are more muscular.
It took a good chunk of my day, but I finally feel like I can tell these two apart. And you know what? I think I might be leaning towards the Korat. That whole Thai royalty thing is just too cool. Plus, I’ve always been more of a social person myself. I guess my cat should match, right?
Anyway, I just wanted to share my little adventure. Maybe it’ll help someone else out there who’s also wondering about these awesome cats. Let me know what you think in the comments!
