So, I’ve been trying to do this thing where I make my own dog food. I figured, why not? It’s probably healthier, and I can control exactly what goes into it. My latest experiment? Kelp. Yeah, that seaweed stuff. I heard it’s good for dogs, so I thought I’d give it a shot.
First, I did a bit of digging around because, you know, you can’t just throw anything in your dog’s bowl. Turns out, kelp is actually pretty decent for them. It’s low in fat, has a good amount of protein, and it’s not hard for them to digest. Plus, it’s packed with all sorts of vitamins and minerals. I mean, who knew, right?

Then I got to thinking about how to actually get this stuff to my dog. I mean, I can’t just serve him a plate of seaweed. So I decided to mix it into his regular food. I got some dried kelp from the health food store, ground it up into a powder, and sprinkled a little bit on top of his dinner. I started small, just to see how he’d react. He seemed to like it, so I gradually increased the amount. But don’t worry, I’ve been keeping an eye on him for any side effects. I read somewhere that too much of anything can upset their stomach. So far, so good, though.
- I started with dried kelp from the store.
- Ground it up real fine.
- Sprinkled a tiny bit on his food.
- Watched him like a hawk for any problems.
- Slowly added more each day.
I’ve also been mixing the kelp with different things, like chicken, beef, and veggies. Just trying to keep things interesting for him, you know? I even tried making some dog biscuits with kelp in them. They turned out okay, not great, but my dog didn’t seem to mind.
My Dog’s Reaction
He seems to have more energy these days, and his coat looks shinier. I don’t know if it’s the kelp or just me hoping, but I like to think it’s making a difference.
Overall, I think this kelp experiment has been a success. It wasn’t too hard to do, and it seems like my dog is benefiting from it. I’m going to keep at it and see how things go. Maybe I’ll try some other sea vegetables in the future. Who knows, maybe my dog will become a gourmet sea plants. If you’re thinking about trying this, I’d say go for it. Just do your research and start slow. Your furry friend might just thank you for it!
