Okay, so, “crabgrass garfield” – sounds weird, right? I was messing around, trying to generate some unique images, and this phrase popped into my head. I have no idea why, it combined those two totally random things. I wanted to see what kind of crazy stuff an AI image generator would come up with.
First, I opened up my favorite image generator. I’ve been playing with a few lately, testing them out.

Then, I typed “crabgrass garfield” into the prompt box. Pretty simple, I know, but the results are what matters.
I hit the “Generate” button and waited. It usually takes a few seconds, sometimes longer if the servers are busy. This time, it was pretty quick.
The Results
- The first image was… interesting. It showed Garfield, like, REALLY angry, with crabgrass growing all over him. He looked like a mossy, grumpy monster. It was kind of creepy, actually.
- The second one was a bit more cartoony. It showed a patch of crabgrass, but with little Garfield faces peeking out from between the blades. It was less scary, more… strange.
- I tried a few more times, tweaking the settings a bit. I played with the “art style” options, selecting things like “photorealistic” and “watercolor”.
- One of the “photorealistic” ones was truly, truly awful. Garfield was so hairy and detailed, and he was covered in very realistic crabgrass. It was very unsettling to look at.
- The “watercolor” one was kind of nice, in a weird way. It was softer, more abstract. You could still tell it was Garfield and crabgrass, but it was more like a dreamlike impression of them.
So, yeah, that was my little experiment with “crabgrass garfield”. I saved a couple of the images, the less disturbing ones, mostly. It just goes to show you, you can put almost anything into these image generators and get something back. Sometimes it’s cool, sometimes it’s weird, sometimes it’s terrifying. But it’s always… something.
I am going to keep messing around with these tools. Trying different combinations of words and styles. It’s kind of addictive, seeing what they come up with. Who knows what I’ll try next? Maybe “banana slug Snoopy”? The possibilities are endless, and frequently disturbing.
