Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about “Against the Grain” pet food, and, honestly, I was curious. My golden retriever, Max, has been a bit picky lately, and his coat hasn’t been as shiny as it used to be. So, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

Diving into Research

First things first, I hit up the internet. I spent a good hour just reading reviews and checking out their website. I wanted to see what other pet owners were saying and what ingredients they actually used.

Is Against the Grain Pet Food Right for Your Dog or Cat?

Making the Purchase

After feeling pretty good about what I read, I decided to buy a small bag of their grain-free chicken formula. It was a little pricier than Max’s usual food, but hey, if it works, it’s worth it, right?

The Transition Phase

I knew I couldn’t just switch Max’s food cold turkey. So, I started by mixing a little bit of the Against the Grain food with his old food. I did this gradually over a week, increasing the amount of the new food each day.

  • Day 1: 25% new food, 75% old food.
  • Day 3: 50/50.
  • Day 5: 75% new food, 25% old food.
  • Day 7: 100% Against the Grain.

Observing the Results

Honestly, I was watching Max like a hawk. I checked out to observe his poop, and I can tell you, his stool looked healthier. It was firmer and didn’t smell as bad, which is always a plus! He seemed to enjoy the food, too. He gobbled it right up, which is saying something for my picky eater.

The Verdict

It’s been about a month now, and I’m pretty happy with the results. Max’s coat is definitely shinier, and he seems to have more energy. Plus, he’s excited about mealtime again! So, would I recommend Against the Grain? Yeah, I think I would. It’s worked well for Max, and that’s all that matters to me.

I learned that I should record all detail from starting to try.
