Okay, so I’ve got this Bissell Pet Pro carpet cleaner, right? It’s been a lifesaver with my two dogs, but man, it gets pretty nasty after a while. I figured it was time to give it a good cleaning, and I thought I’d share my experience because, honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

First off, I unplugged the thing – safety first, always! Then, I took out the dirty water tank. That was easy enough, just a little latch to release. I dumped the nasty water down the toilet and gave the tank a good rinse in the sink. I used some warm water and a bit of dish soap, swirled it around, and rinsed it again.

Next, I went for the clean water tank. Same deal, popped it out, emptied any leftover solution, and gave it a good rinse. I made sure to get into all the little corners, you know? Those can get kinda gunky.

Then came the slightly more intimidating part – the nozzle. But it turned out to be pretty simple too. I just had to find those little screws holding it in place. After a few minutes of messing around with them, I got them loose and the nozzle came right off. I soaked it in some warm, soapy water for a bit, then scrubbed it with an old toothbrush to get all that pet hair and gunk out.

  • Take off the brush roll cover. It just snaps off, no biggie.
  • Pull out the brush roll itself. Mine was wrapped in so much dog hair, it was crazy!
  • I spent a good ten minutes just cutting and pulling hair off that thing.
  • Once it was hair-free, I washed it with soap and water, just like the other parts.

Reassembly Time!

After everything was clean and dry, I just put it all back together. Screwed the nozzle back on, popped the brush roll back in, and snapped the cover back on. Then I put the tanks back in place. Boom! Done.

Honestly, the whole process took me about 30 minutes, maybe a little more, but it was totally worth it. My Bissell is now sparkling clean, and it feels good to know I’m not spreading more dirt around when I’m trying to clean my carpets. If you’ve got one of these cleaners and you’ve been putting off cleaning it, don’t wait! It’s not that hard, and your future self will thank you. I think my practical way should work for most of people who is not good at these house cleaning things. Give it a try!
