Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a cat for a while, and I totally fell in love with those fluffy Grey Persian cats. I mean, who wouldn’t? But before I jumped in, I needed to figure out the whole cost thing. Here’s how my research went down.
First Steps: The Breeder Hunt
First, I started looking for breeders. I figured that was the “proper” way to get a purebred Persian. I spent a lot of time on just googling.

I wanted a reputable breeder, not some backyard operation. You know, someone who actually cared about the cats’ health and well-being.
The Price Reality Check
Sticker shock! Seriously, the prices I saw were all over the place. Some breeders were listing kittens for like, a thousand bucks, while others were way, way higher. I saw some that I think would probably be up to 5000 dollors. It was nuts!
I made a list of a few breeders that seemed legit and had good reviews. I contacted a few of breeders to get a clearer picture of their prices and what that included (vaccinations, health guarantees, stuff like that).
Digging Deeper: What Affects Price?
I started noticing patterns. Here’s what seemed to bump up the price:
- Pedigree: Cats with champion bloodlines in their family tree? Cha-ching! More expensive.
- Color: Apparently, certain grey shades are rarer or more desirable. Who knew?
- Breeder Reputation: The more well-known and respected the breeder, the higher the price. Makes sense.
- Age:Usually, kitten is more expensive, older cats’ price will be lower.
Considering Adoption, Too
Then, I remembered a friend who adopted a Persian from a rescue. So, I started looking into that, too.
The adoption fees were way lower, like a couple of hundred dollars. But, finding a grey Persian at a rescue? That seemed like a long shot. But,still keep finding.
My Current Status
I contacted a couple of rescues, just in case. No luck yet on a grey Persian, but I’m keeping my options open.

Right now, I’m leaning towards a breeder, but I’m still weighing the cost. It’s a big investment! I’m trying to budget for everything – not just the initial price, but also food, vet bills, grooming, the whole shebang. It adds up!
I think, maybe I need to save more money.
The search continues! I’ll update when I finally bring home my fluffy grey friend (hopefully!).
