Alright, let’s talk about them German Shepherd and Husky mix puppies, you know, the ones they call Gerberian Shepsky or somethin’. Real pretty dogs, but a handful, let me tell ya.
What do they look like, you ask? Well, they’re a mix, so they can look a bit different. Some look more like the German Shepherd, you know, with that black and tan fur. Others got more of that Husky look, maybe with blue eyes and that fluffy tail. They can be big or small, kinda depends. I seen ‘em as small as 35 pounds and as big as 90! And tall? Anywhere from 20 to 26 inches, I reckon.

Now, these dogs, they ain’t for no couch potato. They got energy, lots of it! You gotta keep ‘em busy, or they’ll tear up your house, sure as I’m sittin’ here. Them smarty pants folks say they need about two hours of exercise a day. Two hours! That’s a lot of walkin’ and playin’. If you got a big yard, that’s good. Let ‘em run around, chase squirrels, you know, dog stuff.
- But even a big yard ain’t enough. These dogs are smart, too smart sometimes. They need stuff to do, puzzles and things to keep their minds busy. I heard tell of folks makin’ obstacle courses for ‘em. Sounds like a lot of work, but I guess if you got the time…
- And speakin’ of work, trainin’ these dogs, well, that’s a whole other story. You gotta start young, and you gotta be patient. They’re stubborn, these dogs, just like their parents! Use good treats, lots of praise, and don’t give up. If they start pullin’ on the leash, you gotta stop ‘em, tell ‘em to sit. And when they pay attention to you, give ‘em a treat. That’s what they say works best.
Feedin’ ‘em is important too. You can’t just give ‘em any old dog food. They need good stuff, meat and protein, to keep ‘em strong and healthy. Look for that dry kibble with real meat, like chicken or beef, right there at the top of the list. And make sure it’s got plenty of protein, you know, 22 to 28 percent, that’s what they say is good. You can give ‘em some wet food too, to make it tasty and give ‘em some extra water.
And don’t forget the potty trainin’! Start that right away, set up a schedule, and stick to it. It’ll save you a lot of mess and headaches later on, trust me on that.
Now, about keepin’ ‘em healthy. Just like any dog, you gotta take ‘em to the vet, get ‘em their shots, and make sure they’re eatin’ right. And don’t forget that exercise, that’s real important. If you do all that, they’ll be your best friend for a long time. But remember, these dogs ain’t for everyone. They need a lot of attention, a lot of exercise, and a lot of patience. But if you’re up for it, they’re worth it. They’re loyal, smart, and beautiful dogs.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ a German Shepherd and Husky mix puppy, make sure you know what you’re gettin’ into. Do your homework, talk to people who have ‘em, and make sure you’re ready for the commitment. It ain’t easy, but it can be mighty rewardin’ if you’re the right person.
And one last thing, if you get yourself one of these pups, make sure you give it a good name. Somethin’ strong, somethin’ that fits its personality. Don’t go namin’ it Fluffy, unless it’s really, really fluffy. And always keep in mind, a happy dog makes a happy home, so treat ‘em right, love ‘em good, and they’ll love you right back.
