A few months ago, I decided I was gonna make a Garfield blanket. I’m a huge Garfield fan, always have been, always will be. So, I thought, why not combine my love for that lazy, lasagna-loving cat with a cozy new blanket? Seemed like a no-brainer to me.
First, I had to figure out what kind of blanket I wanted. After browsing around a bunch, I learned that there are a ton of options. Like, you got your cotton blankets, which are apparently super durable and get softer over time. That sounded pretty good. Then there are these flannel blankets that are supposed to be really warm, perfect for when it gets chilly. And don’t even get me started on fleece and mink – so many choices!

I ended up going with fleece. It’s 100% polyester, which I guess is a good thing? It’s supposed to be lightweight but still keep you warm. Plus, it’s got this 300 gsm fabric weight, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though. And I read that it’s a good idea to consider both material and weight when choosing a blanket.
Once I picked the type of blanket, I needed to find a design. I spent hours looking at all sorts of vintage Garfield stuff, and finally found the perfect image. It was this classic drawing of Garfield lounging around, looking all smug and content. Exactly the vibe I wanted for my blanket.
- Step 1: Pick the blanket type. I went with fleece because it seemed like the best mix of cozy and practical.
- Step 2: Find the perfect Garfield design. This took a while, but it was worth it!
- Step 3: Get it printed. I found a place that does custom blanket printing. They said they hand-print everything in the USA, which I thought was pretty cool.
The printing process took a couple of weeks. I was so excited when it finally arrived! I immediately ripped open the package, and there it was – my very own Garfield blanket! It was even better than I imagined. The colors were vibrant, the image was clear, and the blanket itself was so soft and snuggly.
I’ve been using my Garfield blanket every day since I got it. It’s perfect for curling up on the couch and watching TV, or just relaxing with a good book. It’s definitely become my favorite blanket, and it always makes me smile. I mean, who wouldn’t want to wrap themselves up in a giant, lazy, lasagna-loving cat? The blanket is also easy to clean, so that is a relief for me.
Overall, making this Garfield blanket was a great experience. It was fun, it was relatively easy, and now I have a super cool, personalized blanket that I’ll cherish for years to come. If you’re a Garfield fan, or just someone who loves a good, cozy blanket, I highly recommend giving it a try!
