Okay, so my cat, Whiskers, has been scratching like crazy lately. It was driving both of us nuts! I figured it was probably fleas or ticks, so I started looking into how to deal with it. I have tried some topical treatments before, but this time I wanna try something different, so chews come to my mind.

The Initial Research

First, I did some reading online. I wanted something safe and effective, obviously. There are tons of options, it’s kind of overwhelming! I learned Some chews just kill adult fleas, some prevent flea eggs from hatching, and some also deal with ticks. I was mainly reading reviews to see what other cat owners recommended.

Choosing a Chew

After I decided on a couple of promising options, I went to check them one by one, and the ingredients make a big difference. I made sure to look for the ones with natural ingredients. Finally I picked one that seemed popular and had good reviews. I made sure to pick one specifically for cats, you can’t use dog products on cats, it can be really dangerous!

Giving Whiskers the Chew

  • The Sneaky Approach: Whiskers can be picky, so I knew I couldn’t just hand it to her.
  • The Crushing Method: I tried crushing it up and mixing it with her wet food.
  • Success!: She ate it all up! No problem at all. It has to do with the flavor of the chew, and luckily she likes it.

The Waiting Game

It took a few days, but I definitely started noticing a difference. Whiskers was scratching way less. She seemed so much more comfortable and relaxed. I kept checking her fur for any signs of fleas or ticks, and I couldn’t find any. I felt relieved.

The Result

It’s been a few weeks now, and Whiskers is still doing great! No more crazy scratching. I’m so glad I tried the chews. It was so much easier than trying to put that greasy stuff on her fur. I’ll definitely keep using these, especially during flea and tick season. I’m so happy to see my cat comfortable and happy again.
