Alright, so I’ve been wanting a French Bulldog for ages, and I finally decided to pull the trigger. I live in Michigan, so I figured I’d start my search locally. First things first, I hopped on my computer and started googling “French Bulldogs for sale in Michigan”. I mean, where else would you start, right?
I found a bunch of websites, some looked a bit sketchy, others seemed more legit. I spent a good few hours just browsing through listings, checking out pictures of these adorable pups. I noticed that the prices were all over the place! Some were going for around three thousand dollars, while others were way up there, like eight, ten, even twelve thousand dollars. It’s crazy! Apparently, it’s because a lot of these puppies are delivered by C-section, and Frenchies tend to have smaller litters. Makes sense, I guess, but still, that’s a hefty price tag.

Then, I started digging into the different colors and patterns. I learned that a solid lilac Frenchie could set you back around seven grand, and a lilac merle could be even more, like eight thousand! And don’t even get me started on the rare colors like platinum or the fluffy ones. Those are like the holy grail for breeders, and they can cost anywhere from six thousand to twelve thousand dollars. Sheesh!
I also did some reading about the differences between male and female Frenchies. It seems like the boys are usually more playful and energetic, while the girls are more chill and affectionate. But, from what I read, the females can also be more stubborn.
Narrowing Down My Search
After doing all this research, I decided to focus on breeders who seemed reputable and had good reviews. I checked out a few websites. There’s this site called PuppyFinder, another one called Pawrade, and then there’s the AKC website, which I figured would be a safe bet since they’re all about registered breeds. I also stumbled upon a website called FrenchBulldog, which is apparently a big marketplace for them.
- I looked into breeders who do genetic testing and health screenings. That’s super important to me. I want to make sure I’m getting a healthy pup.
- I made a list of breeders in Michigan that I wanted to contact. Some of them were advertising on those websites I mentioned earlier, while others I found through good old-fashioned Google searches.
- I started reaching out to a few of them, asking about their puppies, their breeding practices, and of course, the prices.
It’s been a bit of a process, to be honest. There’s a lot to consider when you’re looking for a dog, especially a breed like French Bulldogs that can have some health issues. I’m still in the middle of it all, but I’m feeling pretty good about my progress. I’ve learned a ton, and I’m definitely getting closer to finding my perfect little Frenchie companion. Fingers crossed!
Oh, I also found out why people like French Bulldogs so much. Their cute faces, that small size, and their personalities are the big reasons. Plus, they don’t need a lot of care and are great for city folks. It makes sense to me now.
I’ll keep you guys updated on how it goes! Wish me luck!
