Alright, so I’ve been playing WoW Classic again lately, and my hunter pet was always hungry. It’s annoying to manually feed it all the time, you know? I wanted something automatic, a simple click, and boom, pet fed. So, I decided to figure out how to make a macro for it.
First, I did some digging around. I knew I needed to find the name of the food item that my pet likes. It’s not that hard, I just checked my pet stats and looked at the preferred diet. I made a note of the specific item.

Figuring Out the Command
Next, I needed the right command. I remembered there was a “/cast” command for spells, so I figured there might be something similar for using items. And it turned out to be very easy.
- I opened the macro window (just type /macro in the chat).
- Clicked “New” to create a new macro.
- Gave it a name, I just put “FeedPet”.
- Also, select an icon, I selected a question mark icon.
Then, I use the command “/use” inside macro input, I simply typed:
/use [insert food item name here]
Replace “[insert food item name here]” with my pet’s favorite food. For example my pet like eat “Tough Jerky”, So the final version look like this:
/use Tough Jerky
I clicked “Save”, and that’s it! I dragged the new macro icon onto my action bar.
Testing it Out
I made sure my pet was a little hungry, then I clicked the macro. And bam! My pet was happily munching away. No more menus, no more dragging food, just one click. I was so satisfied with this small change.

This is such a simple thing, but it really improved my gameplay. I can keep my pet happy and effective without constantly interrupting my flow. Mission accomplished!
