Oh, you ever heard of the Australian Shepherd Corgi mix, huh? Now, that’s a funny-lookin’ little critter! Folks call it the Auggie, mixin’ the good bits from both the Australian Shepherd and the Corgi, so you know it’s gonna be a bundle of energy. I tell ya, if you ain’t lookin’ for a dog that’s full of life and loves to be around the family, then maybe you oughta reconsider, but for the rest of us, it’s the perfect little buddy.

Now, let me tell you about them Aussies and Corgis. Both these dogs are herders, so they got a lot of energy and like to keep busy. The Australian Shepherd, well, it’s a smart one, always watchin’ out for the flock and ready to go to work. Then you got the Corgi, short little legs but don’t let that fool ya, they’re quick as a whip and full of spunk. So when you mix them together, you get the Auggie, a dog that’s just as smart and energetic as both of ‘em!
These dogs are real friendly, too. They’re great for families. I’ve seen ’em with little kids, and they’ll follow ‘em around, waggin’ their tails, ready for playtime. They also get along just fine with other pets, whether it’s other dogs or even cats. Now, don’t let that barkin’ fool ya though. I know the Corgi’s got a bit of a reputation for being a loudmouth sometimes, and it’s no different in the Auggie. If they start barkin’ too much, you best be workin’ on trainin’ ’em right away, or you’ll be in trouble with the neighbors.
But don’t worry too much about that, they’re real smart dogs. You can teach ’em just about anything if you’re patient with ’em. They learn fast, just like their Australian Shepherd parent. They’ll do tricks, follow commands, and even fetch the paper if you’re lucky! It’s a good idea to give ‘em a job to do, too. Otherwise, they might get bored and start diggin’ up your garden or chewin’ on your shoes. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Now, about how they look. The Auggie’s got a mix of both parent breeds’ features. You’ll see some of the Australian Shepherd’s coat, all fluffy and soft, but they’re a bit shorter like the Corgi. Some of ’em end up lookin’ more like one parent than the other, but they always got them cute little legs that make ‘em look like they’re struttin’ their stuff! They come in a bunch of colors too, from the Australian Shepherd’s speckled blue merle to the Corgi’s tan and white. You’re gonna want to keep ’em brushed, though, especially if they got the Aussie’s longer fur. They shed like you wouldn’t believe!
As for their health, these dogs are pretty sturdy, but like all mixes, they can inherit some of their parents’ health problems. The Aussie can have hip issues, and Corgis, with them short little legs, might have back problems if they’re not careful. So, make sure they don’t jump off high places and take ’em for regular check-ups with the vet. Good food, plenty of water, and exercise will keep ’em strong and healthy for many years.

If you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one, make sure you’ve got the time and space to take care of ‘em. They need exercise, mental stimulation, and a lot of attention. They’ll be a joy to have around, but they ain’t the kind of dog you can just leave outside all day while you’re workin’. No sir, they need to be part of the family, inside and out, playin’ and learnin’ with everyone.
So there you have it! The Australian Shepherd Corgi mix, or the Auggie, is a lively, smart, and affectionate little dog that’ll fit right in with your family. They’re full of love, fun, and energy, and will keep you on your toes. If you’re ready for all that, then you won’t find a better companion!
