Okay, so my cat, Mittens, she’s been scratching a lot lately. Like, A LOT. And not just her usual scratching post action, I’m talking full-on digging at her ears and neck. It was making me worried, and, you know, keeping me up at night with all the thump thump thump of her scratching.

So, first thing I did was the usual check. I looked for fleas, obviously. Couldn’t see any of those little buggers, but that doesn’t always mean they’re not there, right? I even used that special flea comb, the one with the super-close teeth. Nothing.

Next up, I tried changing her food. Maybe she was allergic to something? I switched to that fancy “limited ingredient” stuff. Expensive, let me tell you! But, nope, still scratching. After a week of the gourmet meals, Mittens was still digging away like she was trying to escape to China.

Then, after some frantic Googling, I keep reading about something named “Credelio”. It’s a Pill for cats for tick and fleas, apparently.

My Credelio Experience

I was a bit hesitant about giving her a pill. Mittens is, shall we say, particular about what she eats. Sneaking medicine into her food is usually a recipe for a hunger strike. But I was desperate. It’s heartbreaking to watch her so uncomfortable.

  • Getting the Pill: First hurdle, getting my hands on Credelio. Turns out, you need a prescription. A quick vet appointment (and another round of Mittens-related stress), and I had the pills.
  • The Great Pill Experiment:

I crushed it in her wet food. It was smelly and had a bit of stinky smell. And to my complete amazement…she GOBBLED it down! I almost did a happy dance right there in the kitchen. No fighting, no spitting, no dramatic staring at me like I’d betrayed her. She just ate it. I have to say, this stuff is good at masking the medicine smell.

  • Waiting Game:

The vet said it could take a day or two to really see a difference. So I waited. And watched. And waited some more. The first day, not much changed. Still scratching. I started to feel that familiar wave of “nothing’s going to work” despair.

  • It Worked!:

But then, on the second day…BAM! The scratching was WAY down. Like, almost gone. Mittens was actually napping peacefully, instead of, you know, trying to shred her own fur. She seemed so much more relaxed. It was amazing!

It’s been about a month now, and the scratching is still under control. Mittens is back to her old self, demanding cuddles and judging me from her perch on top of the bookshelf. I’m so relieved, I could say thank you forever. Credelio actually worked, and it was surprisingly easy to give to her. I’d definitely say it was worth a try, especially after everything else failed.

So, yeah, that’s my Credelio story. If your cat’s scratching is driving you both crazy, it might be worth talking to your vet about it. Just remember, I’m not a vet, just a relieved cat owner!
