Okay, so, let’s talk about Ragdoll cats, specifically their colors. I’ve been digging into this for a while now, and it’s actually pretty interesting how these fluffy guys get their different looks.
First off, I started by just poking around online to see what colors Ragdolls even come in. Turns out, there are quite a few! The main ones I saw mentioned a lot were seal, blue, red, cream, lilac and more, and they also have a mix called tortie.

Then I got into the whole process of how they get these colors. What really blew my mind was finding out that Ragdoll kittens are born totally white! No colors at all. They’re like little blank canvases. It’s only as they get older that their color starts to show up, and it can take up to two whole years for their true colors to fully come in. I guess you can’t rush perfection, right?
I spent some time looking at pictures of different Ragdolls to try and see the differences between, say, a seal and a blue. From what I can tell, seals are the darker ones, kind of a rich brown. Blues are lighter, more of a gray-ish color. They say blue is like a diluted version of seal, which makes sense when you see them side by side.

Here are main colors I found:
Oh, and I found out that lilac is considered pretty rare. It’s this light gray with a bit of a pink tone. Sounds fancy, huh?
So yeah, that’s what I’ve learned about Ragdoll colors so far. It’s been a fun little deep dive. Who knew cat colors could be so involved? I might even start trying to identify the colors of every Ragdoll I see now. Just kidding, maybe not. But it’s definitely cool to know all this stuff!
