Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get my cat onto a wet food diet for a while now. He’s been a dry food addict his whole life, and I know wet food is generally better for them. Hydration, you know? So, today was the day I finally tried it.

The Great Wet Food Experiment

First, I went to the pet store. So many choices! I picked up a few different cans – some chicken pate, some shredded chicken in gravy, just to see what he might like. I felt like a chef preparing a gourmet meal, even though I know my cat might just turn his nose up at it.

Back home, I opened a can of the pate. It smelled… well, like cat food. Not super appealing to me, but hey, I’m not the one eating it. I scooped some out into his bowl, all excited, and placed it down in front of him.

He sniffed it. He sniffed it again. Then, he just looked at me, like, “Seriously? What is this stuff?” I was a little disappointed.

I tried to encourage him, you know, poked at it a little, even pretended to eat some (don’t judge!). Nothing. He just walked away. Stubborn little fluffball.

Next, I tried the shredded chicken in gravy. Figured maybe the texture was the problem with the pate. Opened the can, scooped it out… same reaction. He sniffed, he hesitated, and then he rejected it. Great.

Feeling a bit defeated, I mixed a tiny bit of the wet food with his dry food. That’s when he finally did * would eat around the wet food at first, then he ate a tiny, tiny bit of the wet food – like, a microscopic amount. Progress, maybe?

So, yeah, that’s where I’m at. It’s going to be a slow process, I can tell. But I’m not giving up! I’ll keep trying, maybe with different flavors or brands. Gotta get this kitty hydrated!
