Okay, so I saw this “brown nose Golden Retriever” thing online and thought, “Hey, that sounds like a fun little project!” I’ve always loved Goldens, and the idea of giving one a cute, chocolatey nose just seemed too adorable to pass up. So, I decided to give it a shot.
Getting Started
First, I needed a Golden Retriever, obviously. Luckily, my neighbor has the sweetest Golden named Max. I asked if I could “borrow” Max for an afternoon, promising lots of treats and belly rubs in return. They happily agreed – Max is always up for extra attention!

The “Brown Nose” Process
Now, for the “brown nose” part. I definitely wasn’t going to use anything harmful or permanent. I did some digging and found a recipe for a dog-friendly “paint” using peanut butter and a tiny bit of unsweetened cocoa powder. It seemed safe and, most importantly, delicious!
- Step 1: I mixed a tablespoon of peanut butter (make sure it’s xylitol-free!) with about a quarter teaspoon of cocoa powder. It made this nice, light brown paste.
- Step 2: With Max happily munching on a treat, I gently applied the mixture to his nose with my finger. I just dabbed it on, making sure not to get it in his nostrils, of course.
- Step 3: I use some power on his nose, and try to make the color looks natural!
The Big Reveal
And…that’s it! Max had a temporary, super cute brown nose. He seemed pretty pleased with himself, especially when he realized he could lick it off. I took a bunch of pictures, because who wouldn’t?
Important Notes!
I had lots of fun today and took many photos. It is a nice try, I think maybe I will try another “project” next time! Wish me luck!
