Alright, let’s talk about these big ol’ black cats, the kind with eyes like the sky on a sunny day. You know, those Maine Coon fellas. They’re somethin’ else, let me tell ya.
I seen a picture once, looked like a little panther, all sleek and black. But this weren’t no panther, no sir. This here was a Maine Coon, a big fluffy one with fur so dark it shined like a raven’s wing. And them eyes! Blue as can be, like two little sapphires starin’ right at ya. Real pretty, they were.

Now, these cats ain’t your regular alley cats. They’re big, I tell ya, BIG! Got these wide faces, kinda square-like, and ears that stick up with little tufts of fur on ’em. And whiskers? Longest darn whiskers I ever did see on a cat. Makes ’em look wise, like they know somethin’ you don’t.
- Big and fluffy
- Black fur, shiny like
- Blue eyes, real pretty
- Wide faces, square-like
- Ears with tufts
- Long whiskers
Heard tell that when they’re born, most of these black Maine Coon kittens got blue eyes. But then, as they get older, lots of ’em change, turn to green or gold or somethin’ else. But some, they keep them blue eyes, and that’s what makes ‘em special, I reckon. Folks say it ain’t common, blue eyes on a black cat. Makes ‘em worth a pretty penny, I guess, but to me, it just makes ‘em prettier.
There’s this place up in Canada, they call it a “cattery.” Sounds fancy, but it just means they raise cats, lots of ’em. And they specialize in these blue-eyed Maine Coons. They say them eyes are big and set wide apart, and them cats are smart, always lookin’ at you like they’re tryin’ to figure you out. I bet they’re a handful, all that fur and all that smarts.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I heard tell that blue eyes on these black cats are kinda rare. Mostly, you see blue eyes on white cats, or maybe cats with some white spots. But a all-black cat with blue eyes? That’s somethin’ special. There’s even a special kind of cat, I think they called it “Ojos Azules,” that’s got blue eyes. Spanish, I think. Means “blue eyes,” makes sense, I guess.
Maine Coons, they’re friendly critters, too. Not like them skittish ones that run and hide soon as you look at ‘em. These fellas like bein’ around people, playful and all. Good company, I’d say, if you don’t mind a cat the size of a small dog. And they make this funny little chirpin’ sound, not a meow, but somethin’ else entirely. Kinda cute, if you ask me.
And speaking of colors, I heard there’s some even rarer than black with blue eyes. Gold and silver, they say. Something about a special gene that makes their undercoat light. Fancy stuff, I tell ya. But me? I like the black ones with them blue eyes. They look like somethin’ outta a fairy tale, all mysterious and beautiful.
So, if you ever see one of these black Maine Coon cats with blue eyes, you take a good look. They ain’t somethin’ you see every day. They’re special, they are. And they’ll probably steal your heart, quick as a wink, with them big blue eyes and that fluffy black fur. Just like they stole mine, lookin’ at that picture. Yep, a real beauty, that’s what they are.
And remember they are friendly and playful. They really like people, always wants to be around you. If you get one, they’ll be following you around all day, just wanting some love and attention. It’s nice to have a cat like that around, something that makes you feel loved.
There are other blue-eyed cats too, though. The Balinese cat is one of them. It is fluffy and pretty and graceful and got real deep blue eyes. It’s a long-haired Siamese cat, if you can believe it. I think they look real fancy, just like the Maine Coon cats. Maybe even fancier if you can believe it. But I like the big fluffy Maine Coon cats the best.
