Alright, so I’ve been on the hunt for a French Bulldog puppy here in Michigan, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey! I’ve always wanted one of these little guys – they’re just so darn cute with their squishy faces and bat ears. So, I finally decided to take the plunge and started my search.
Getting Started
First things first, I had to figure out where to even look. I mean, you can’t just walk into any pet store and find a Frenchie, right? So, I started with good old Google. I just typed in “French bulldogs for sale in Michigan” and boom, a ton of results popped up. But, I know better than to trust just any website, so I started digging deeper.

Finding Reputable Breeders
One thing I learned pretty quickly is that it’s super important to find a reputable breeder. You know, someone who actually cares about the dogs and not just making a quick buck. I came across a few names that seemed promising, like “Jessicah’s Frenchies,” which sounded legit. I also found some lists of AKC-registered breeders, which made me feel a bit better. After all, if they’re registered, they must be doing something right, yeah?
What to Look For
Now, I’m no expert, but I did some reading on what to look for in a Frenchie puppy. Things like a well-proportioned body, a short snout, and clear eyes. It sounds simple, but apparently, there are health issues to watch out for, especially with those super flat faces. I also read that the coat should be clean and healthy, which seems like a no-brainer.
The Price Tag
Okay, let’s talk money. These little guys are not cheap! I saw prices ranging from $3,000 all the way up to $12,000! I mean it’s high price. Apparently, it’s because they often need C-sections to deliver the pups, and they don’t have huge litters. Still, that’s a lot of dough. But for a purebred from a good breeder, it seemed like $1,500 to $8,000 was the more common range. And, of course, the really rare colors can cost even more.
Boys vs. Girls
Another thing I had to consider was whether I wanted a boy or a girl. From what I read, the boys are usually more playful and independent, while the girls tend to be more affectionate and calm. I’m still not 100% sure which way to go on that one. I guess it depends on the individual pup’s personality, right?
Ongoing Search
- Contacting breeders and asking about their practices.
- Visiting breeders to see the puppies and their parents if possible.
- Making sure the puppies are dewormed, up-to-date on shots, and microchipped.
- Saving up a good chunk of money!
So, yeah, that’s where I’m at right now. It’s a lot of work, but I’m determined to find the perfect French Bulldog puppy. I’ll keep you guys updated on my search!
