Alright, let’s talk about how I got this pet supplies blog thing going. It wasn’t some grand plan, believe me.
It really started simple. I got a cat, Whiskers. Then came the endless trips to the pet store. Food, litter, toys… so much stuff. And half of it felt like junk, honestly. Or way overpriced. I found myself complaining to friends, comparing notes on what actually worked versus what Whiskers just ignored or broke immediately.

Getting the Ball Rolling
One day, I just thought, why not write this down somewhere? Maybe someone else is having the same issues finding a decent scratching post that doesn’t fall apart. So, I looked around for a place to put my thoughts online. Didn’t want anything fancy. Just needed a space. Found some free website builder thing, clicked around a lot. Messed it up plenty of times.
First posts were rough. Seriously. I just typed out whatever was on my mind. Took some blurry pictures with my phone of Whiskers batting at a toy, or the food bowl I liked because it was easy to clean. Didn’t know anything about making things look good online. Just hit ‘publish’ and hoped for the best.
Figuring Out What to Talk About
I decided early on I wasn’t going to pretend to be some expert. That’s not me. I just wrote about my actual experiences buying and using stuff for Whiskers.
- That expensive ‘indestructible’ toy that lasted maybe two days? Wrote about it.
- The cheap food bowls that got weirdly stained? Wrote about that too.
- Found a brand of litter that actually clumped well? Shared it.
- Tried making some DIY cat toys? Documented the disaster (and the one success).
It was all just practical stuff. If I bought it, tried it, and had an opinion, I put it down. No fluff, just “here’s what happened”.
Keeping It Going (Sort Of)
Consistency? Yeah, that was a struggle. Sometimes I’d write three posts in a week because I’d just bought a bunch of new things or Whiskers did something funny. Other times, weeks would go by. Life happens, right?
I didn’t really promote it or anything. A few people found it somehow. Left comments sometimes. Mostly asking questions or sharing their own experiences. That part was kind of cool, actually. Made it feel less like shouting into the void.
It’s not glamorous. It’s basically me, rambling about cat food and feather wands. Took a while to figure out how to make the posts slightly more readable. Used some bold text here and there, broke things up into paragraphs. Still feels pretty basic, but it works, I guess.

Where It’s At Now
So, the blog is still there. I still add stuff when I feel like it, usually when I find a product that’s surprisingly good or particularly terrible. It never turned into a big business or anything. Wasn’t really the point. It’s more like a personal logbook of trying not to waste money on pet supplies.
Learned a few things, mainly that a lot of pet stuff is marketed way better than it performs. And taking decent pictures is harder than it looks. But mostly, it’s just a space where I share my little trials and errors. If it helps someone else avoid buying a crappy laser pointer, then great.
