Okay, so yesterday I needed to find a place to board my dog, Max, while I’m out of town next weekend. I’m in Newport News, VA, so I needed something local. Here’s how the whole thing went down.
First Steps: The Frantic Search
First, I grabbed my phone and fired up Google. I just typed in “pet boarding newport news va” and hit enter. A bunch of stuff popped up, you know, the usual – maps, ads, and a list of places.

Narrowing it Down
I started by looking at the map to see what was closest to my place. I didn’t want to drive all over creation. Then, I started reading reviews. Some places had awesome reviews, some… not so much. You gotta weed those out, right?
I made a list of about three places that looked promising, based on location and the reviews.
Making Some Calls
Next, I picked up the phone and started calling. The first place didn’t answer – straight to voicemail. Strike one. The second place I called, the person was super nice, answered all my questions about their setup, what Max would need, and the cost. They sounded great!
The third place I called was okay, but the person sounded a bit rushed, and I didn’t get a great vibe. So, they were out.
The Decisive Details.
I went back to my number one contender. They had the best-sounding deal. Spacious, climate controlled, and a dedicated outdoor time for pets.
Also, I ask for a picture of the place. The staff was so patient to send me the pictures of their suites for dogs.

Booking It!
After asking some clarifying question, I confirmed a place for max at the second place I called. They have availabitily.
I booked Max’s stay for next weekend. I filled out their online form with all his info (vaccinations, food preferences, emergency contact, etc.). I got the reservation complete and a confirmation email for my booking.
Feeling Relieved
Seriously, finding a good place for your pet is stressful! But I’m feeling pretty good about this place. Max is a bit of a scaredy-cat, so I wanted somewhere that seemed calm and caring. This whole process took maybe an hour, tops, and now I can cross “find dog boarding” off my to-do list!
