My Thai Cat Name Hunt Begins
Okay so our Siamese kitten needed a proper name, right? Saw her blue eyes and pointy ears and thought “gotta find something Thai.” Seemed obvious! Started poking around online forums real late – like midnight scrolling territory. Found tons of lists, but most felt kinda… bland? Overused. Felt like digging deeper.
Actually Trying These Names Out Loud
Copied a bunch of contenders from different sites onto a sticky note. Stood in the living room holding the squirmy fluffball and started shouting names at her:
- “Kanya!… Nope, she blinked.”
- “Chai!… Didn’t even flick an ear.”
- “Sakuna!… Got a tiny meow! Maybe that?”
Felt silly but you gotta hear it. Some sounded great written down but awkward to yell across the house. Axed half the list right there.
My Favorite Ones That Stuck
Kept a few promising ones based on meaning and how they rolled off the tongue:
- Malee (Mali): Means Jasmine flower. Sweet sound, pretty meaning. Squeaked when I said it!
- Noi: Means “Little one.” Perfect for her tiny size. She tilted her head!
- Ruen: Means “Home.” Wanted her to feel at home. Got a purr rumble!
- Duangkamol: Means “Fortunate.” Big name, big luck. Shortened to “Kammo.” Massive yawn. Close enough!
Tried fancier royal ones like Parinya (Great Wisdom) but felt too stiff for a kitten bouncing off walls.
The Naming Disaster (Sort Of)
Here’s the funny bit. Spent days trying these perfect Thai names. Made lists, tested pronunciations, asked friends. Wife thought I’d lost it. Kid just kept calling her “Bluey.” Guess what stuck? Egg Roll. Kid saw her curled up, said she looked like an Egg Roll from dinner. We all cracked up. Kammo? Mali? Ruen? Nope. She only comes running for “Egg Roll.” Tried fighting it for like a week. Pointless. Egg Roll totally owns her. So much for deep research into Thai royalty and flowers! Best laid plans, right? Cat names… you just never know.
