Alright, so I’ve been on this mission to find a Labrador Retriever, specifically in Indiana. Let me tell you, it’s been quite the adventure, and I just gotta share the whole process with y’all.
First off, I started where everyone starts these days – the internet. I typed in “Labrador Retriever for sale in Indiana” and, boy, did I get a ton of results. I spent hours just scrolling through different websites, trying to figure out what’s legit and what’s not.

I stumbled upon this place called Southern Indiana Holiday Kennels. They seemed pretty reputable, been around since 19-something, so I decided to dig deeper. I looked at their website, checked out some reviews, and everything seemed on the up and up. But, you know, you can never be too sure, so I kept looking.
Then I found this other breeder, Rustic Ridge Labradors. They had some good info too. After comparing a bunch of these places, I realized that finding a good breeder isn’t just about who’s got puppies right now. It’s about their reputation, how they treat their dogs, and all that stuff.
Narrowing down options
- Calling Around: I started calling these breeders. Just getting a feel for them over the phone, you know? Some were super friendly and helpful, others, not so much. It’s crazy how much you can tell about a person from a simple phone call.
- Visiting: After some calls, I decided to visit a few places. Seeing where the puppies are raised is important. One place was so clean and organized. The dogs seemed really happy and well-cared for. That was a big plus for me.
I also found this website called PuppyFinder. They list a bunch of breeders in Indiana. It was kinda overwhelming at first, but it was helpful to see so many options in one place. I cross-referenced the breeders listed there with the ones I found on my own, just to see if any names matched up.
Someone mentioned “Moose & Mary” to me, saying they are top-notch English Lab breeders. They are the nation’s premier English Lab breeder. I did a little research on them. They sounded great but a bit out of my reach right now.
Making the Decision
After all this searching, calling, and visiting, I finally made a decision. It wasn’t easy, but I felt good about it. I went with Southern Indiana Holiday Kennels. They just ticked all the boxes for me.
Oh, and I almost forgot! Someone told me about Purina Pro Plan for puppy food. They said it’s good stuff, has all the right nutrition and everything. I’m gonna look into that once I get my puppy.
So, yeah, that’s my story about finding a Labrador Retriever in Indiana. It was a lot of work, but I learned a ton along the way. Hopefully, my experience can help someone else out there who’s looking for a furry friend.
