Okay, let’s get started. I wanted to make some durable chew toys for my furry friend, and I decided to try using old ropes.
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my materials. I dug out some old, thick ropes that were just lying around. I made sure they were clean-ish – you know, no major dirt or anything gross on them. I also grabbed a pair of scissors. That’s it, really simple!

The Process
I started by figuring out how long I wanted the toys to be. My dog’s a medium-sized guy, so I aimed for about a foot long, maybe a bit longer for some. I just eyeballed it, no need for precise measurements.
Then, I simply tied knots. Big, chunky knots. I made a few single knots, some double knots, and even tried braiding some of the thinner ropes together before knotting them. The goal was to make them tough and interesting for my dog to chew on.
- Single Knots: Super easy, just a basic knot.
- Double Knots: I looped the rope around twice before pulling it tight.
- Braided Knots: I did three stands rope and braided it together.
I made sure to pull the knots really, really tight. My dog’s a chewer, so I didn’t want these things falling apart after five minutes. I even stepped on some of the knots to really cinch them down.
The Finished Product
And that’s it! Seriously, it was that easy. I ended up with a bunch of different rope toys, all different shapes and sizes. Some were just one big knot, others had multiple knots along the length. My dog,he was happy. It’s simple project, and it works.
