Okay, so I’ve been thinking about what treats to give my dog, and I kept hearing about these things called “bully sticks.” I was like, “What the heck are those?” So, I did a little digging cause I care about what my pup’s eating, you know?
First off, I looked into what they are made of. I found out they’re pretty much just, well, bull penises. Yeah, kinda weird, but apparently dogs love ’em. They’re supposed to be all-natural and everything, which is cool.

Then I started thinking about if they’re actually good for my dog. I read that they’re good for their teeth cause it’s something for them to chew on, and it helps clean their teeth. Plus, they are low in fat and don’t have a lot of cholesterol, which is great since my dog’s already a little chunky.
So, I decided to give them a try. I went to the pet store and picked up a pack. When I gave one to my dog, his eyes lit up! He went to town on that thing. I watched him for a bit to make sure he was okay, and he seemed to be having a blast. I did notice that these bully sticks last a long time, which is nice, and they keep him busy.
But I also heard that you gotta watch your dog while they’re chewing on these things, ’cause there’s a small chance they could swallow a big piece and that is a really bad thing. A friend told me once a day is recommended. I tried to limit how much he chewed, but that’s not going to be easy. In addition, I also found that some vegetables, like carrots, are good alternatives. Fresh carrots are very nutritious with high level of Vitamin A, C, and K. I’ll give it a try, but I’m not sure my dog will like them.
- I monitored my dog the whole time.
- He seemed to be handling it fine.
- He didn’t try to swallow it whole or anything.
All in all, I think bully sticks are a pretty good treat for dogs. My pup loves them, and I feel good knowing they’re not filled with junk. Just gotta keep an eye on your dog while they’re enjoying them, and maybe don’t let them eat the whole thing in one sitting!
