Okay, so I’ve always been a cat person, and Siamese cats? They’ve always been super interesting to me with their blue eyes and that classic color pattern. But I kept noticing something – a lot of them seem to be cross-eyed! I mean, not all of them, but enough to make me wonder if it was just a coincidence or what.
So, I started digging around. First, I looked at a bunch of pictures online, you know, just scrolling through photos of Siamese cats. I even made a little folder where I saved pictures of cross-eyed ones and ones with normal eyes. It felt a bit silly, but I was curious!

Then, I hit up some forums and online communities for cat lovers. I asked around, “Hey, have you guys noticed a lot of Siamese cats being cross-eyed?” And, you know what? A lot of people had! Some even shared stories about their own cross-eyed Siamese kitties. It wasn’t scientific, but it was something.
My Little Investigation
I decided to go a little further. I found some articles online that talked about this. Apparently, there’s a real reason for it! It’s in their genes. Siamese cats have this gene that can cause something called “strabismus” – that’s the fancy word for being cross-eyed.
- I compared the number of cross-eyed Siamese pictures I found to pictures of other cat breeds.
- I read stories from Siamese cat owners to see if they mentioned anything about their cats’ vision.
- I looked for any actual studies on the topic, but most of what I found was just regular articles, not super scientific.
So, after all that, here’s what I figured out: It’s not just a myth. More Siamese cats are cross-eyed compared to other breeds because of that gene they carry. It doesn’t mean every single Siamese cat will be cross-eyed, but it’s definitely more common. It was a fun little investigation, and now I can finally stop wondering every time I see a cute Siamese cat!
I feel a little dumb about my efforts, but I’m an old man who’s not doing much in life. So I had to do these dumb things to pass the time.
It felt like a huge accomplishment at the * also gave me a sense of fulfillment to share this process.
