Alright, let’s talk about them antique Siamese cat lamps, you know, the ones that look like real cats, kinda. I seen a few in my time, mostly at them flea markets and such. Folks used to have ‘em in their houses back in the day, real popular they were.

Now, what makes ‘em so special? Well, for starters, they’re old, real old. Some of ‘em go back to the 1950s, maybe even earlier, I reckon. They ain’t like them new plastic things they sell now. These were made outta ceramic, heavy they are, and they got that vintage look, you know what I mean? Makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like grandma’s house.

Them Siamese cat lamps, they mostly come in a few colors. You got your plain white ones, which ain’t nothin’ fancy, but they’re nice. Then you got your ones with the color points, like a real Siamese cat, you know, with the darker ears, paws, and tails. Them color points, they’re important, I heard tell. If it don’t have them, it ain’t a real Siamese, or so they say. And the rarest one? That’d be the red point or flame point one. Hard as heck to find, them red ones are. Means they cost a pretty penny too, I bet.

Why folks like ‘em so much? Well, besides being old and kinda cute, they remind folks of a time when things were simpler, I guess. Back when families sat around the TV together, and them lamps lit up the room. Plus, some folks just love cats, especially them Siamese ones. They’re playful, them cats are, always running around and getting into mischief. Just like kids, really.

  • Where to find ‘em? Well, you can try your luck at flea markets, antique stores, and even online, like that eBay thing. But be warned, them good ones, they ain’t cheap. Some folks are asking for a whole lot of money for ‘em, especially if they’re in good condition and still work. You gotta watch out for them that are chipped and cracked, or the wiring’s all messed up. Ain’t nobody want a lamp that don’t light up.
  • How much they cost? Well, that depends. Like I said, the good ones cost a lot. I heard some folks payin’ hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars for them rare ones. But if you just want a regular one, you might be able to find one for cheaper. Just gotta keep your eyes peeled and be patient. Don’t get roped into buying a broken one for a high price either, these youngsters today think they slick, but they ain’t slicker than an old hen like me.
  • What to look for? When you’re looking to buy one, make sure it’s in good shape. Check for cracks, chips, and scratches. And make sure the wiring is safe. You don’t want to burn your house down, do ya? And see if it has the maker’s mark on the bottom. Some of them were made by companies like Lane and Co., and Kron. Them ones are usually worth more, I reckon. Look for those Siamese cat lamps with their kittens too, they tend to fetch a bit more than the single ones.

Now, some folks, they just collect these lamps, put ‘em on a shelf, and look at ‘em. But others, they actually use ‘em, put ‘em in their living room or bedroom, and let ‘em light up the place. They give off a nice warm glow, them lamps do. Makes the room all cozy like. And if you got kids, they might like ‘em too. They’re kinda like a night light, keepin’ the monsters away at night.

I tell you what, them antique Siamese cat lamps, they’re more than just lamps, they’re a piece of history. They remind us of a time gone by, when things were simpler and families were closer. And they’re just plain cute, too. So, if you ever see one at a flea market or antique store, don’t be afraid to pick it up and take a closer look. You might just fall in love with it. Just make sure it works before you buy it.

And remember, don’t go spendin’ your life savings on one of these things. They’re nice and all, but they ain’t worth goin’ hungry over. Be smart, and get yourself a good deal. That’s what I always say. Be smart like a fox, not silly like a goose. And don’t let them slick sellers talk you into paying more than it’s worth, just cause it’s old.

Antique Siamese Cat Lamp: Vintage Charm for Your Home Decor

Anyways, that’s all I got to say about them antique siamese cat lamps. Hope you learned something. Now go on and find yourself a nice one, if that’s what you want. Just remember what I told ya, and you’ll be fine.
