Starting My Kitten Hunt
I decided I really wanted a cream Ragdoll cat after seeing cute videos online. First thing I did was Google searches for local breeders. Typed things like “cream Ragdoll breeder near me” and checked maps for places within driving distance. Wasted two whole nights scrolling through weird websites before realizing most were either scams or sketchy backyard breeders. Felt super frustrated but kept digging.
Checking Breeder Credentials
Started contacting every breeder I could find through Facebook groups and forums. Asked straight up about health testing – things like “do you screen for HCM?” and “can I see parent cat vet records?”. Got ghosted by three breeders when I asked these questions! One lady sent me blurry photos of kittens piled in dirty cages. Noped right outta there. Finally found two breeders who actually showed me clear health certificates and vaccine records. Made sure they offered written health guarantees too.

Meeting the Kittens
Drove three hours to visit one breeder’s home. Place smelled clean, cats roamed freely in sunny rooms. Breeder showed me the mom cat first – big fluffy cream beauty just chilling on cat tree. Then brought out the litter – three cream balls of fluff tumbling around. Observed them for over an hour:
- Checked eyes for goop or redness
- Listened for weird breathing sounds
- Noticed how they played without limping
Fell hard for this one shy male kitten who kept hiding under the sofa.
Sealing the Deal
Asked about neuter contracts and paperwork while signing adoption papers. Paid deposit right there with shaking hands! Breeder gave me kitten’s favorite toy and food samples. Next two weeks felt like eternity – waited for his final vet check and vaccines. Picked him up yesterday carrying my own carrier. Little dude cried first 20 minutes in car then fell asleep on my lap. Now he’s exploring my apartment, knocking over coasters like he owns the place. Totally worth every stressful step!
