So, you got a Siamese cat, huh? Or thinking about it? And now the big question looms: what in the world do you name this little majestic creature? Been there, done that, and let me tell you, it’s a bit of a journey.
When my sister brought home her first Siamese, a tiny little thing with those piercing blue eyes, we were all stumped. We went through the usual suspects, you know? “Snowy,” “Blue,” – all pretty, but they just didn’t feel… right.

My Naming Adventure Begins
I took it upon myself to find the perfect name. It became a bit of an obsession, I won’t lie. I started just observing the kitten. They’re not just pretty faces, these Siamese cats. They’ve got personality for days, and they’re not shy about showing it off. Always chatting, always curious.
First, I thought about their looks. Those color points are so unique, right? So, names like:
- Cocoa or Mocha – for the darker points, obviously.
- Sky or Azure – for those incredible eyes.
- Pearl or Opal – thinking about that creamy body fur.
But then I thought, that’s just one side of them. What about their royal attitude? They carry themselves like they own the place, don’t they? So, I started thinking about names that sounded a bit more… regal.
- Raja (means ‘king’ in some languages, I think I read that somewhere).
- Cleo (short for Cleopatra, very fitting!).
- Duke or Duchess.
Then, there’s their origin. Siam, which is now Thailand. I figured, why not look into some Thai names? This part was a bit trickier, gotta admit. I wasn’t about to pick something I couldn’t pronounce, or that the cat would ignore anyway. But I found a few that sounded nice, even if I wasn’t entirely sure of the deep meaning. Stuff like Mali (jasmine, apparently) or Chai (which I later found out means ‘yes’ or ‘alive’ – pretty cool!).
The “Aha!” Moment
And you know what I realized through all this? There’s no single “best” list. It’s not like picking a new phone where you compare specs. It’s more personal. The “best” name is the one that just clicks for you and your cat. It’s the one that makes you smile when you call it out, and the one your cat (eventually) responds to. Sometimes it’s a name you stumble upon by accident.
For my sister’s cat? After all my “research,” she ended up naming him “Milo.” Why Milo? Because when he was a kitten, he’d always try to steal sips of her Milo drink. Had nothing to do with his color, his origin, or any grand idea. It just fit him. And that’s the thing, isn’t it?
So, my advice? Sure, look at lists, think about their cool features, but mostly, just get to know your little Siamese. The right name will probably find you. It’s less about a perfect science and more about that connection. Sometimes the silliest names are the ones filled with the most love, you know?
