Okay, so I’ve been experimenting with breeding cats, specifically trying to get a mix of Russian Blue and Siamese. Sounds cool, right? Here’s how it went down.
First off, I found a purebred Russian Blue female and a Siamese male. Finding the right cats took some time, making sure they were healthy and had good temperaments. Health is key, you don’t want a bunch of sickly kittens.

The Mating Game: This part is pretty hands-off. You just let nature take its course, making sure the cats are comfortable and have everything they need. The Russian Blue seemed pretty receptive to the Siamese dude.
Pregnancy Watch: After a few weeks, the Russian Blue started showing. Vet visits are super important here. You wanna make sure the momma cat and the kittens are doing okay. The vet gave her some prenatal vitamins and a clean bill of health.
Kitten Delivery! This was intense! I made sure she had a quiet, safe space to give birth. Fortunately, she did most of the work herself. Ended up with a litter of five kittens. They were tiny little things, all squirming and mewing.
Raising the Little Guys: This is where the real work began. Feeding, cleaning, making sure they were warm and healthy. I weighed them daily to make sure they were gaining weight properly. Bottle-feeding was sometimes needed.
The Results: Okay, so the kittens! Some had the short, plush coat of the Russian Blue, while others had the longer, sleeker fur of the Siamese. Their colors were all over the place – some were greyish-blue with Siamese points, others were just straight-up grey, and one was almost cream-colored. Personality-wise, they were a mix too. Some were quiet and reserved like the Russian Blue, others were loud and chatty like the Siamese.
- Coat: Some short, some longer
- Color: Grey, bluish-grey, cream
- Personality: Quiet, chatty, a good mix
Lessons Learned: Breeding isn’t easy! It’s a lot of work, and you have to be prepared for anything. Health is always the top priority, and you have to be ready to give the kittens the best possible start in life. I also learned that genetics are weird – you never know exactly what you’re going to get.
Would I do it again? Maybe. It was definitely an experience, and seeing those little kittens grow up was pretty cool. But it’s not something to take lightly. Lots of responsibility involved.
